Slick's comment not withstanding. :) generally no.

 

The issue might be having cars at your house that you'd be working on... Each city/state would have their own laws with regards to that.

 

I work from home, but I only do flatglass - so I don't have customers coming to me - I'm always going out to them.

Check local laws depends where you live out of city sometimes you don't need a business license I have had mine  18 years....worked without one for a while....i like doing taxes and having a license cause  now I can get income tax!!!!

Zoning, if your house is on a road with no businesses nearby then you may have an issue, if your house is on a road where there are businesses you should be ok. i live in a community where you can't have a business in your home that people come to, like i can't have a jiffy lube in my garage but i can do work over the net, but if i'm only doing a car here and there the security looks the other way.

i worked from home for many years..my one rule is the customer needed to drop off the vehicle,,,no waiting around out of respect to my neighbors...went without a problem for fifteen years plus
