Ford mirror removal. Short video

Recommended Posts

I have finally started taking these off again.  I use the same pick tool but I use my fusion handle to tap the mirror.  Makes for more of a plastic hammer.  No metal sliding on the window either.

The 2 that I had break off would never have taken any hitting.  They broke without any real pressure and must have been a bad run of glass or something odd.

You guys should really invest a couple bucks in a small rubber mallet.

A miss lick can happen even when being careful.   There is no way I would swing anything else near or at any windshield.

Once you release the clip clip from the shear line , just bump the base with mallet.  It is non marring, so no damage.

Be smart.  Nothing hard needs to be swung at windshields. :twocents

Where is the pick in relation to where the spring loaded clip is split? Seems like one side of that clip would be released and the other lock, then vice versa. I love that strategically placed air freshener btw. Go dawgs

I've been doing this for years. Learned how to do it after I broke one forever ago.

I broke one with the tool that Ford sells to take it off! Lol

the guys that worked there told me they always priced a new glass with these! ( at dealer price of course!)

It takes a special pair of pliers to reinstall properly

Plus a nickel to space the bottom if these are like a glad shop I work with has.   The bottom isn't quite long enough to get in.
