Is this tint job acceptable?

Recommended Posts

Guest Chad

I got my car tinted 7.5 days ago. The tint place says bubbles should be gone in about a week. I'm not sure what the standard is, but I can see bubbles, and they haven't changed since I saw them several days ago. Is this tint job acceptable?

Those are not bubbles, but pieces of dust/trash/felt contamination of some sort.  They will not go away.  Pic #2 is from the installers fingers when he applied the film.

Trash in the film like that shows up more with darker films and the ceramic type films like what you have installed.  Dust particles are our enemy. They are everywhere during installs and we do what we can to keep this from happening.  I say all this so you are aware of what the installer is dealing with.

If you go back to the shop and ask them if they can do a better job,, try to be as understanding as possible about the situation (until it is time to not be understanding).

They might agree to try and redo them with less trash or they might tell you it's the best they can do.

Also be aware that it will be a removal and replace so there is a risk of left over glue if not cleaned well during removal.

Now that you know what is up, all you can do is talk to the shop and see where it goes from there.  Good luck.  :beer

That job would never pass with my customers- looks like a backyard job. Fo back and let the shop know you are not happy with it and ask for them to remove it and refund your money. Chances are if they redo it, it won’t turn out any better the 2nd time. Go to a different shop

This is one way people tint fast...they dont press out any tiny specs! I press out anything along top edge before rolling glass up. Then I check the entire glass. Then when job is finished I check again. If they let it go like that they either dont care or thats just  the quality of their work. I would have them remove it and just go somewhere else.
