Hi, I just installed 3M 1080 gloss black wrap on my "diffuser". Did this on my BMW 328i F30 which has a non-m-sport bumper. Problem is that this "diffuser" is non-removable, and there is only a groove which separates it from the rest. I have cut along this groove and it looks good. But I'm pretty sure this edge won't hold forever. I was thinking of sealing the edge. And I thought of using the paint touchup clearcoat to use in this groove where the vinyl edge is. Will this work good? Will it stick to the vinyl and the paint? And if I want to remove it in the future, will I be able to without damaging the paint underneath (when I have added the clear coat line)…

We recently wrapped a Utility bed with 3m IJ180CV3 with 3m 8519 luster. The entire wrap was a nightmare, but we got it done. Then two weeks later our customer stops by and I notice that along a body line (a spot welded body line) there are tears along the entire seem. I checked the back side of each of these seams and they are spot welded about every inch or so along the entire seam. What would cause this? I doubt that the entire utility body is flexing enough to cause this kind of tearing. Also it does not get cold enough here in GA to cause this type of tearing either. Any ideas?

From a single vehicle to an entire fleet, professionally designed and applied graphics not only raise the profile of your business, they are also one of the most effective forms of advertising. Due to an increase in vehicle advertising and new technology the requirement arose to offer our customers an alternative to single colour flat vinyl graphics. Vehicle wraps are an eye-catching advertising tool that doesn't wait to be seen but goes out and proactively markets itself. This approach is quickly becoming an outdoor standard as a cost-effective mobile billboard. With long commutes becoming more commonplace it's much easier to promote a business or product to a wider a…

hello all, as the topic title explains, I have recently been introduced to the wonderful world of vinyl wrapping, which still strikes me funny as I'm also now just realizing that I've been seeing wraps around for many years, all the while remaining totally unaware of what they were! That being said, I am now becoming very interested in the process, and especially with customization. So, my burning questions are: • what program (or programs) are wraps with graphics design in? Are they photoshop files that are edited to fit specific printing dimensions or is there some other sort of rending program that is commonly used for creation? • what kind of variations…

Hi Tintdude, I'm not a professional in this area, but I found your website and wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks for putting up with me. I have a boat that looks just like this: I want to wrap the upper part of the side in a solid-color vinyl, leaving the bottom part it's natural color. The width (top -> bottom) of that area is about 9 inches all around, and the boat is 26 foot long on both sides, so I am thinking about 54-58 feet of a vinyl roll will do it. My concern is: how wide should my vinyl roll be? I was thinking that if I go 10-inch wide roll, I would be able to m…

So I just finished wrapping a sled and there is a bunch of rivets on the tunnel that the vinyl lays over. It's on there and I probable should have removed them first but too late. What do you suggest?

So to start out... a few weeks ago my car was dirty and I had a lapse in good judgement due to being exhausted and i lightly used the brush to clean the vinyl and when I say literally every panel had small scratches I mean it... I cleaned and checked the soft brush they had but it still scratched the hell out of the vinyl! I knew that it should never be used and up until then I used a microfiber wash mitt with no issues but I was being lazy. Well needless to say I went straight home and heated every inch to 180-190 and every light scratch that was there disappeared... I honestly couldn't believe it! Also I couldn't get one straight answer from anyone online about how to…

We are doing a full wrap on a 2008 scion TC. This is an amazing color. Day 1 * disassemble the mirrors, door handles, bumpers, side skirts, gas tank cover, etc. * minor bodywork including filling the rock chips, repairing the scratches and PDR for a couple small dings. * complete wash, wipe the whole car down with alcohol, making sure all the edges are dust free. Day 2 (half day) * finished preps for bumpers, sanded down all the scratches and rock chips. * started on fenders, mirrors, trunk lit and the driver side of the car. 2 more days to go.... stay tune and check out our Facebook picture for latest update. https://www.facebook.com/TintW…

New guy here, looking to get into wrapping as a DIYer at first, and maybe move into it professionally if I can ever afford a certification course from avery or 3m. Anyway, I've been doing as much research as I can on wrapping and I noticed that in FormidableSloth's thread, he was priming and sealing the whole car before wrapping. I'm assuming this isn't a necessary step, but what good does it do to prime over the factory paint? if anyone's curious, i'm planning on wrapping my 02 Camaro convertible matte black.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, I usually read signs101 for vehicle wraps but I discovered tintdude and wanted to check it out. I have a question for you all. As part of my work, I sell vinyl graphics and vehicle wraps. Having spent years in the industry, I have had too many horror stories to count so I have contracts in place for the client to sign, to protect myself. The contracts have cost me hundreds of dollars in attorneys fees which got me thinking: what if a vehicle wrapper could buy a contract template that would protect them from horror stories and ensure that every job goes smoothly? It would include: Preliminary works including artwork, intellectual p…

So I have been lurking for a while reading up on wrapping and watching tons and tons of videos. I was wondering if you guys could help me with a few questions but first some information on the car: 1999 BMW M5 - Paint is in bad shape. It was sprayed some kind of color changing paint color and it looks and FEELS awful. It doesn't have many dings or dents but I will be checking, bondo and sanding any areas that I don't think is right - I already have the wrap. It is Oracal 651G in gloss white. I got a stellar deal on it. I have 50 yards by 48" so I have plenty to wrap this a couple times if it comes out really really bad. - I want to wrap the roof and mirrors black. …

So I'm getting ready to wrap my shop truck that has been a project of mine for a while. I've done wrap accents but never a full vehicle and I'm just looking to make it all one color since I had to do some bodywork to repair some spots and they are in epoxy primer now. My question is, when wrapping the lower parts of the truck, like the rockers and bottom parts of the bed, do you bring the vinyl to the very edge and then use the edge sealing tape over the edge of the vinyl and then around the back side of the panel or do you cut short of the edge by a little and then seal with the tape so it doesn't wrap around? Just trying to see what is the proper way to keep from havi…

For anyone who owns and operates the L25500 printer. I notice some ink fadeout on edges of prints and such, after test plots and replacing printheads etc.. I found out it was the little rubber nipple that pressurizes the printheads! I twisted and turned them. Was printing great after that!! Now all of a sudden we're missing one! Hp wants $165 for the part number Q6651-60265. Anyone ran into this problem?

Okay, so I've been attempting to wrap my 2005 impreza rs interior with 3M carbon fiber vinyl. So far the top vent part and the two small vent covers turned out great, but I'm having issues with the center part, where the head unit and temp controls are. I've wrapped it once and in the of the area for the head unit I can't get the vinyl to stretch enough and stick. I'm thinking I'll have to do it in a couple of parts, but I'm not sure how to go about that. The only other issue I've run into are getting the very small button holes properly held down. I'd appreciate any advice you guys have for me.

Hey everyone, I have a customer who loves the HX30S006B Metallic/Glitter Red Hexis Wrap but of course this one is discontinued and no longer available in Australia. (arghh!) https://instagr.in/t/hx30s006b%C2'> Just wanted to see if anyone could recommend any other cast vinyl wrap that has a great glitter/metallic finish which is available in Australia. (suitable for a boat wrap) I got a sample of 3M's 180C-203 Red Metallic (pretty dull compared to Hexis) Arlon's Red Dazzler Series 2000 is a bit too orange when the sun hits it. (it will clash with the red boat interior) I've tried googling but Im not sure of any other brands out there. thanks heaps.

My 1988 Toyota mr2 has a really awful paint job. Probably 50% of the cleercoat is gone and there's a lot of spray paint on it. Some areas have bondo covered up by spray paint. I want to wrap it with 3m 1080 series matte metalic blue vinyl wrap because I can't afford a paint job and I don't have the skills to paint it on my own. I have a friend who has done wrap before who is helping me do it. I am concerned that the vinyl won't adhere well to the cruddy paint it has now. Any suggestions as to how to get a good base for the vinyl without repainting it?
