I had a guy come in the shop 2 days ago wanting his windows tinted. He had been to 2 other shops, and both declined to do his car, stating that a computer under one of the cargo windows was too exposed to moisture and that when they cleaned and prepped the windows the computer would get wet. Anyone heard of these claims? I've done some searching here, and seen a couple of guys have done the Avant (or Estate, depending on your continent, lol). Do I have a legitimate concern or is this some hype because the other shops don't want to do this car? Thanks!

Audi S8- How to? 1 2
by Guest thillwtm- 11 replies

A customer brought in a 2007 Audi S8 today and we had trouble with the rear window. Has anyone tinted this car before? If so are there any suggestions on making the process easier? The problem was encountered when we saw the brake light in the rear window touches the glass and therefore we couldn't get a tool in between.

I woulda loved to have seen this before I got this car in. The panels look like a pain but are very straight forward. I wish I coulda done it without pullin em it woulda saved some good time. Anyhow. pull from this end, it pops right out. Remove the screws. There is one screw tucked up in that hole. She is ready to pop now, watch for the christmas trees on both sides by the top. Yank the gasket, it will take the shape of how you pull it, dont be rough on it at all. Boom

Tinting my 2nd S5 today. First one came out great, had just a little trouble with the rear break light and how tight it sits to the windshield. Other than that, a pretty easy car...ALTHOUGH!...I heard there is a problem with the amplifier in the rear deck lid. If water gets on it, it fries it. Has anyone else heard about this? Encountered it? Feedback please... Ryan

I need suggestions on pretty much the whole process. Would the best place to start by calling and asking around about places tinting jobs. How much will this run me? What kind of tint/brands would look good on my car.

did my first a8 the other day, have read alot about them on here over past few years, seems to be alot of discussion about whether th strip car out or not for rear screen????? well heres my 2p!!! - I did it without stripping first, film slides between glass and shelf no problem, just couldnt quite get the pressure on to get enough water out, wasnt 100% happy with it although it was going to a hire firm and dealer said they werent picky, not the point in my book!!!!!! you'll find full step by step instructions in the makes and model section (and pics!! don let them scare you!) if you get a car without rear sun shade (like I did) its easier than it sounds as no stripping…

Hi guys, I have an AUdi Q8 booked in next week. Its my first time doing one of these. Is it as straight forward as it looks or are there and hidden nighmares such as a tough shrink on the back glass? How hard are the door panels to remove? Thanks, Jon.

It's true guys, the car is sweet as pye to tint, for what I've seen in the dealer next door, very little curved back glass, thinny side glass and regular size door windows! I'm trying to convice the Big Boss from the Audi dealer here to tint it, if I get lucky I'll post some pics!

Has anyone here done an A2? I want to attempt mine, but not sure if it is best to remove the door panel or the side window gaskets or the whole glass? Can it be done by just removing the weather gasket, as this seems the easiest option. And how is the gasket removed

2004 Audi A3
by Guest Rockabilly- 1 reply

For those that pull the door panels... The old model A3 had a screw at the front and rear of the panel, undo the screws and the panel simply lifts up - there are hooks that hold it in place on the door. The NEW A3 is different. Only one torx screw at the bottom of the panel, but this does not need to be removed. Just wind down the window, pull back at the top of the door trim and the plastic clips pull away from the door. You dont need to pull it very far, pop pop pop, just enough to remove the rubbers. And away you go.

The new audi A6 cannot be tinted without removing the glass. The rubber gasket is connect with the felt at the side of the frame which means it cannot be removed. Unless you are a tucker you have got no chance. If anyone can correct me that would be interesting to know

A4 Estate Rear Window
by Guest Dazzaboy4374- 3 replies

Dry shrunk the window and succeeded on the 6th attempt :inot Most of the excess film was at the two bottom sides so I lowered the centre band which seemed to re distribute alot of the excess film to the top half of the window. Took my time with the shrinking and Would nt say it was an EASY window and it was nice to finish the job which had caused me so many problems I used 38% Charcoal Llumar film (Customers choice) Once again thanks guys for your tips

The window when open on both these cars is a long way away for you to install without having super long arms. I have heard about leaving the liner on after sraying then unpeeling in on install. I don't understand how this can work if so can someone explain and also are there any other technques that will deffo work!! thanks in advance Chip 01

True Grey 35 No need to pull the panels, seals tuck nicely. No need to pull the deck. Especially if you own a bulldozer. Cake job.

We all know the A8 is a nightmare. Ive been doing 2 Audi dealers and they have been very nice about removing the rear seat so I can get in there and tint it until today. I assume someone figured out that they are paying a mechanic 3-4 hrs labor to remove and replace the back end of this POS car and they are not going to help anymore. I was told its now my responsablity to do whatever it takes to tint a car and if I cant do it someone else will (I love dealers) so I tried to tint without removing the headrest after two tries I got it but what a pain Today I get another one I say these headrest are coming out and I am not taking the seat out here it is first remov…
