BMW E46 Convertible 1 2
by jj- 10 replies

My BMW dealership is convinced that E46 Convertible's make noise if you tint right up to the top edge of the glass, they make me cut a massive gap along the top and side edge so as the tint wont touch the rubber seal when the door is closed. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyone tinted this one yet? I did one last year. It was brand new and I didnt remove ruber gaskets because it looked like the "new" audi A6 - rubber all around the frame in one peace. A bit difrent from all other bmw, the top of panel dont want to pop off. I like bmw in my tintshop, but this one will be a pain when it get old and dusty.

what is the best way to tint the roll downs on BMWs? im talkin about the seal at the bottom because it is so tight. right now my bro is using masking tape to pull back on the bottom seal but after the first time if you have to re-do the window the tape will not stick anymore because the felt is wet. so what do you guys suggest to do or use to hold the bottom seal away from the glass??

I tinted one of these at the house the other day. Talk about EASY!! The doors are frameless and drop down like other BMW frameless windows. The back window is real easy also. This is the easiest BMW I have ever tinted. NOTHING to be worried about on this car.

Hi guys a quick question, how do I trick the doors to move the window fully up on the E46 coupe? Most other makes have a "plunger etc" that you can wedge, cant find this on the E46. I do remember someone saying you can manually latch the door? Thing is I dont know how to do this? Thanks in advance Guys

'99 BMW M3 E36 coupe 1 2
by Guest customcuttinting- 14 replies

Ok, I know doing windshields is usually a "no no" for a variety of reasons, but sometimes I do 'em when the customer begs, and I get a signature on a reciept, bla bla. However, some makes and models I hesitate to do. This case, a BMW 1999 M3 coupe E36. Is there anything I need to worry about, sensors, computers or anything electronics below the glass I sould worry about? Kinda nervous. Thanks.

Im trying to tint front side windows of a 2 door 2002 3 series. The tint is a generic brand. I did not remove the door panel or the felt just tucked the tint under it at the bottom. The problem was at the bottom along the door panel area, I had about 7 to 8 2 inch long fingers of air under the film. The rest of the tint sat good no bubbles under it, but no mater how hard it pushed or tried to walk the air out it just re poped back up. It seemed like air and not water under the film. im looking for tips on what I did wrong. I cut 2 pieces and both times it did this. do you guys usually shrink these side windows. thanks for the adivce

E46 coupe and metallized film
by Guest marcm- 9 replies

Hi All, Looking to tint an E46 coupe with film 35% all round (I dont want to look like a pimp if yer get me!!!) but am in a bit of a quandry about what to get.... a) metallized film = fantastic heat rejection and more light throughput for level of heat rejection. b) dyed film = poor heat rejection for the light level. I ask because I would really like to use the metallized but because the aerial is in the rear screen will it cause a problem with FM reception ? I dont have inbuilt nav so wont be a problem with GPS. I have tried to source ceramic film but there are no suppliers I can find in the UK for a reasonable price... so far been quoted 4* the price of the metal…

The vertical gasket by the rear view mirror is to tight to slide the tint under so once I had applied the tint and made it flush with the gasket, when you close the door the entire window moves toward the rear of the car about 1/8th of an inch creating a gap with the tint and the front gasket. Anyone experienced this? Thanks

Dealer bulletin from Bekaert Oz. "The new BMW 1 series incorporates 2 seals on the windups, the normal rubber weather seal on the top of the door and a plastic seal inside the door. The plastic seal is known to scratch film and the previous experience of one dealership was that lining the plastic seal with felt did not work when the felt adhesive gave way in the recent hot weather." A friend of mine just picked one up this week and dropped it off to me yesterday to have it tinted. Funny thing happened to me, I was on my last window and it was giving me trouble, let me explain. The rear passenger window when rolled up would automatically go down by itself , it kept doing that. I could not figure out why the hell it was doing this til I remember reading here on a thread about how the window switch may need to be reprogrammed? Luckily my guy in the shop is an electronics expert and had some type of program that allowed him to fix the problem. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone before?

BMW 6 series

Ok so this is my first 6 and im pulling my hair out trying to figure out how the headrest in the back seat come out. Does anybody have a clue as to how they come off? I searched a little and read that you have to tug on one side till it clicks and then the other but I tried this with no success. I would hate to try to squeeze in over them and risk contamination. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

The new 3 series we get downunder is a no do. The top part of the rubber gasket is felt lined yet the below rubber is just that. an abrasive liner that will damage our tinting. Devil

How do you remove the brake light in the upper half of the 3 series BMW...325 in perticular...2003. I got the cover off no problem. Now I'm having trouble removing the actual brake light. I don't usually remove it, but I'm detinting/retinting, and the last guy tinted up there. Ryan
