I need help with getting my buddy's monte tinted correctly. Dirt specks everywhere...I haven't been doing this long, but I know I am just missing something...HELP!

Going to get a 2005 Vette in soon, has anyone actually tinted the back glass? Know it's changed, smaller, more rounded on sides. If you've tinted one, any tips on laying it down? Method of shrinking?

4 Door Cavalier
by Guest asistint- 2 replies

Tomorrow I have a 4 door cavalier scheduled. Where I used to work we always cut the tint off at the dots and gave the customer the option of comming back and having us paint the dots with a "special" paint. I'm not wanting to do that. I've been reading on sanding the dots with 600 grit sandpaper. I was thinking about trying that out but I've read about people using glue? What do you guys recomend from your experiences from cavaliers. Thanks

The last Vette I did had the familiar vertical defroster lines and struts in the glass. This newer Vette has horizontal lines and no hatch struts to deal with. Anyone out there tint one of these recently? Do you have any tips?

I'm a self taught weekend warrior tinter for about 3yrs now. I've done around 65 vehicles now and today I felt like this was my first go at tinting. A friend wanted just the two front doors of his 1980 Camaro retinted so I peeled off the old tint and proceeded like normal. I tried three times before I got the tint on the first window the way I wanted ( I'm an @nal perfectionist ). Them I sqeeged the hell out of the tint and heated the edges ( I file the edges ) and just a few minutes after I got done, there were smaller bumps all over the place that looked like air bubbles. So I tried it again with NO heat at all- same thing, just took longer to appear. Now I'm gettin…

I used to hate these things because of the hard plastic and those dumb ass defroster leads, but I was mess'n with one the other day and found something pretty cool. Normaly I would just cut a slit or gap and hide it behind the lead. But that sucked because you always saw it, it was hard to clean back there, and hard to get all the water out from behind. With the last one I took a small screwdriver and popped the lead clasp off of the frame. Then it swiveled out of the way. I cut a whole out for the attached area then cut a slit along the large defoster area (where it would not be noticed). When installing I seperated the film at the slit and fit that over the whole …

I am tinting a Monte Carlo this week.. one of those Dale Earnhardt signature models... awesome looking car. I think only 3,000 something were made and I will be tinting #2,222. I heard that the back window was a bear! especially trying to get around the high speaker grills on the back panel. Has anybody done one of these.. Do you need to take the panel off?

I got a 87 vette coming in thursday and any tip would greatly be appreciated. I thought about a two piece and maybe a 3 piece any opinions. Also which way should I try to run the film, with the defrost lines running up and down would it be easier to shrink the film that way or the normal way. Probably the lamest idea you all have heard of, but please dont laugh too hard, my only ignorance is if I dont ask the pros

Hey I need some help. I have a 1997 3.1L Chevy Lumina with a cracked block after the headgaskets went out on it. The casting number on the block is 24504150. and I have found a block and I am not sure what year it is and I need to know if it will work in the car, the new block has a casting number of 10191737. if anyone can direct me to the right person or help me out to if this block will work with the old parts off the Lumina. mainly the Intake and heads. I have access to the cam, crank and lifters and rods that I know work with the new block. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP.

Here's one for the books. Just when you think you have seen it all. Want a real challenge/nightmare. Try heat shinking the rear window of one of these babies. Here's a hint on the secret to this one. Totally disreguard all other specs of all the brands of film and concentrate on one thing only, find out which brand of film has the absolute strongest adhesive that will take this fishbowl curve of a window. Bad edges
by Guest FastBackJack- 8 replies

Has anyone else noticed this on the 03 and 04 models of Chevy and GMC p-ups? The edges of the roll-ups are all grainy and very course. The 02's and earlier were great. Able to make a nice clean beveled edge. But now the edges are all messed up and its hard to get a good edge. I dunno, maybe its just the ones in CA.

Old corvette tint

This is one of my corvettes. I am the original owner and had the tint done in 1976 when my vette was 2 years old. It has held up remarkably well, only I some how managed to score the tint on the passenger window. I also had the vinyl hardtop rear window tinted at the same time. I can't believe how well it's held up but I think I will have them all done again. This is the pass side window with the score-cut on it. Does anyone know a place in SW Florida that can do the work? Thanks. and this is the vinyl hardtop with tint

ok, this car was gravy at thanksgiving (I think) it was soooo easy, flat back glass, they moved the break light (pun intended) to the trunk, not in the glass can use 24" film wet shrink and if it takes more than like 3 minutes, you're takin a smoke break....the doors need a little shrinking, nothing major, the patterns dont need oversized like the old ones....theres a big soft rubber lining the front and back edges of the rollups, AND (the best part) the quarters have frit around them like a grand prix they're cake, took me an hour to do in all 35% and looked spectacular....but this car reminds me of a baby impala ....oh well, not my problem easy ass car :booga

Is there anything special technique I need to use on these windows? The back window is obviously just a flat glass panel, but the rollups move backwards while rolling them down. This seems odd to me and I'm not sure how to go about tinting it to line up the edges. (There is not two sidetracks, just one I think) Any information would be appreciated. Thanks ...Joe / d03boy

like most old cars this one is a pian in the rump. but ill see if maybe I can save anyone who has to do one a little headache. the back of the doors are rounded. and you have to leave a little extra at the bottom the my best suggestion would to be do one door . and if it fits just use the liner as a guide for the next side. this is how I did mine I left about an inch extra at the bottom. I cut the front side first then slide it ove a 1/4 inch. then I rlled it down as little as possible. so I could get as much of the curve as I could.then I took it over to my peeling glass and tryed to cut the rest of the curve by hand. the first one I did . I cut the curve a little to muc…
