do you guys cut right on the paint? I am a little confused I cant imagine that that is how it is done. also you leave a little extra on the hood and then wrap to the bottom? I am thinking about gettins some and practicing on my car, I installed a kit on an 05 lesabre, which is one of the only kits I have ever done and it turned out relatively well, but it took a long time and I can definitely use a lot more practice. is that a fairly simple, or fairly difficult car to do?

First 911 (997) GT2 in the US 1 2
by Guest Josh @ Proform- 13 replies
- 2.1k views
Received a phone call last from Porsche Cars of North America requesting our services for a special project in San Diego. We left (from Las Vegas) Monday morning and were back by 10 pm Monday night. Went well, even though the working conditions were not that great, poor lighting and large open doors letting coast breezes with a lot of dirt in the air. We were told it was the first new GT2 to hit the US. Bumper was cake and the upper (hood, fenders and mirrors) were the same as all the rest of the 911 (997)

the reason 3M bought Venture 1 2
by Guest bigboyk2000- 10 replies
- 2.4k views
Just got off the phone with an MM rep. He said they are not interested in using Ventures products. The reason for the purchase was for the factory, MM wants to have the capability of producing 60in roles of PPF. He also said that MM has terminated its contract with xpel and purchased star shield out of California and are setting up software systems to allow computer cutting by Feb of this year. The vibe I got from the rep is that MM is trying to set up Car Dealerships with bundle packadges (tint, PPF, plotter, and No Fault warraties) and just like many other distributors/manufacturers trying to cash in on the greed of the car dealers by offer mark up items at a low c…

Steamers do work and work well. I have had to redo this bumper twice now...this time I used a steamer...the material layed down so smooth and looked great. This is the new Lexus RX400h. I could not get the top corners of the bumper to lay down smooth but the steamer took care of it.

I been thinking about getting into PPF but my volume wont be as high as most since I'm merely a word-of-mouth tint out of the garage for extra money kind of guy. I had requested information from Lamin-X a few months back and was told they had a deal for $400 they would send you a CD with all of the templates ready to cut on my plotter and all I had to do was buy my material in bulk rolls and cut them out when I needed them. I reciently went to order that deal and they told me they don't sell the CD anymore and I had to buy a membership and pay a monthly fee for downloadable templates now. Or I can just buy bulk rolls and hand cut, or get their pre-cut kits. I don't wan…

A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all im just back from Orlando over the xmas break, doing the Disney thing as you do. whilst hangin around for the buses to and from our hotel I took to wandering around the vast car parks lookind out for ppf. I came across lots of those black bras but not one ppf? I just expected to see a few done over there. maybe its more popular in other areas? weather was great, I love USA theme parks, they have the whole thing down…

Venture Scratch Removal Tip
by Guest Cpig- 2 replies
- 2.6k views
Here's something I discoverd last night while trying to remove scratches from VentureShield. Most people know about using a heat gun to remove scratches but this wasn't working for some of my deeper scratches. So I followed the heat gun up with a LIGHT swipe with a MicroFiber towel - the scratches just disappeared and the film is now invisible again. The towel pushed the heat-softened surface together to seal the scratch. You have to use very light pressure immediately after applying heat for it to work.

I ppf'd my work truck. After all this time I broke down and did it. It was hard to sell without haveing an example to display. I used the meguires nxt wax before installing. I made the mistake of waxing everything. It went well and all, but, if I had not done it around the tack points, it would have went a little quicker. Oh well, we will see if it stays on or not. hahahahah

I have used quite a bit of Advantage's ppf kits and have found them to be of very high quality. Fit has been extremely good. They have installed smooth and easy. I can't say enough good things about them. The price has been a big selling point for me as well. Compared to many of the other companies, they are far better! Mention my name to Ricky or Beeline, to get my brownie points up. HAHAHA . Seriously, good stuff

Worried about the wrong things? 1 2 3
by Guest kccartint- 24 replies

There have been a lot of topics about who makes what lately or how it got there. It would be nice to know but we should be worried about more important things. Things like the manufacturers that sell film and patterns direct to the dealers pushing the real specialist out. I am sure most of us have seen a lot of the sub par jobs that come from it. Not only does it take money from your shops but gives the product a bad wrap as well. It amazes me how many shops will support a company that will back door them and sell to a dealer direct or even retail. In my eyes it shows you how much they really appreciate your business and support. Putting up a difficulty rating, vid…
