2006 Aston Martin DB9
by Guest socalkid- 8 replies
- 1.6k views
I'm looking at xpel's website for the front bumper on a 2006 Aston DB9. It's showing that they only have it for a no pdc bumper and my guys dont recall seeing any nor are they showing any pdc when I look on the internet. I'm going to assume that they dont have it, at least the US version. Is it going to be a concern if the car ends up having the pdc and the kit doesnt have it?

At SEMA, 3M Distributors were given the ability to offer Venture Pattern Software for FREE!! Until Dec 15, the usual 1-time charge for the patterns will be waived. The modifiable patterns are FREE now and after! Some 3M Distributors (including us at Quality Auto Trim (www.ppfsupport.com) are also distributing Venture Paint Protection Film as well. We continue to have great confidence in the proven, and ever-improving 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection film. It is time tested, you can trust the future of your business on the film holding up, they take responsibility if there are problems and the 3M name sells. But some find the ease of use, excellent clarity, and $200 sa…

Any advice on whether or not to give a free PP kit to a local dealer, or several, who have kinda shown interest in PPF, but are too chicken to invest in a "new" product. Should we just go after the big boy high end car market, or does the midwest just not know, not care about PPF. Most individuals who come into our shop ask about it, look for it, buy it, the dealers just won't budge....

PPF Questions
by Guest rcjello- 4 replies
- 1.4k views
I'll start by saying I'm a window tinter and have never done the ppf thing. I have some questions before I buy any film and play with it. 1. will my window skills be enough to help me learn this or will I need to have some training 2. If I don't have a plotter can I buy precut kits per job. Does that cost way too much or can you hand cut it? 3. What markets does it generally work in and what advertising is effective. (I.e. big city, midwest, east coast, etc) 4. how much does it generally cost per job and how much is a bulk roll generally cost. I know it varies on the quality but a ballpark is fine. 5. Is it seasonal or do ppl buy it no matter what the temp it outs…

OK, firstly I'd like to introduce myself to the forum again. My name is Brett Webster, I am responsible for the product development and sale of VentureShield worldwide. I have been involved in the extrusion, coating, converting and sale of the product for almost 7 years now. There have been a lot of questions as to who makes what product. Let me first explain what it takes to make a product like PPF. Urethane Extruder - usually 40-50 feet long, encased in a clean-room environment. Capital expenditure = $2-3 million for set-up. You still need 3-4 qualified engineers, with a chemistry background, to run the equipment Coater - Our coater is 180 feet long, runs 24/7, an…

How long to prep a vehicle for PPF 1 2
by Guest groupguy- 12 replies
- 2.6k views
I'm working on my first PPF and have a question regarding pre-installation preperation. How long does it take you to clean the parts prior to application? It took forever for me to get the bug crap and tar off the door panels and front bumper. I used simple green and then a tar remover for the tough spots. Is there something better to use? How long does it typically take you guys to prep? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To avoid any appearance of impropriety and to avoid liability issues, I'm asking that any PPF reps who are members here refrain from talking about other companies products, please keep your comments related to your own products only. This policy was earlier adopted site wide and has prevented many problems. This issue was particularly a problem in the first PPF forum we had and led to it being shut down. If those wishing to participate limit their comments strictly to their own products, many of these situations can be avoided. PLEASE, keep it civil and we can all benefit from this forum.

did a black toyota yesterday, full front kit. man could I get those dead bugs off. they had litterally embedded into the paint. the car is 4 months old, but where I live we are very open country, loads of mossies and weird things flyin around. I have seen posts here regarding clay bars. would that be something useful in these circustances? and does it mark on black cars? I noticed as I was rubbing bug and tar remover it began dulling spots on the paint??

I helped a uy install PPF on a 07' sprinter demo van today. And I have some general questions. The only problem I saw was the fingers that thet couldnt get to lay down, they would just leave them overnight to let them dry. In the mornin they will trim and I guess push out dried fingers. My question is besides tring to suck up water with a paper towel to help lay fingers. What can you do? I suggested alcohol but they said that wont work. Heatgun maybe? Im just unfamiler with the product and it seems theres some trick im missing. Anything helps guys, share your wisdom please.
