Someone had told me that reflective film on tinted glass can cause more heat absorbtion then a non reflective film like a LluLlu DL5 or something simular. Is there any truth to this or is it BS. the way it was explained to me sounded logical but I dont know.

Which film/shade looks best on Silver?
by Guest lpages- 7 replies
- 1.2k views
I'm having the windows tinted on my Silver 2006 Honda Civic Coupe with Navigation over the weekend and would appreciate some input on film choice. I'm looking for something not too dark, not too light, not too reflective either. One shop has a choice between Quantum 28 and HP Titanium 33, another has Formula One Pinnacle 35 and Ultimate 28 or 38. Which one of these would be the best choice? If there's anything else out there that might be better, I'm totally open for suggestions.

I tried the soap shrink for the first time this week. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm hard headed, I fear change. The whole time I was smearing the lather on the back glass I was thinking," this is so stupid, why am I doing this?" But OH MY GOD!!!!!!! Mdog is a genius!!! I just got a new thing of baby powder that will never be used !! For those of you like me (hard headed) go get some soap and try it! It's unreal, and as far as I can tell, you can't singe the edges. Yesterday was trying to singe the edges on purpose and couldn't do it! That's somethind that drives nuts, when the edge singes and no matter what you do it curls. Not no mo, Y'all done fixed the glich. This post …

Newbie question about window decals
by Guest graphicgirlvi- 7 replies

java script:emoticon('') hi, I've been a graphic designer for a long time, done some vinyl signage work, but never a window tinter. I hope you guys can help me. java script:emoticon('') I'm working on an ad campaign called "purple dots" for a non-profit group here in the us virgin islands and we had the idea to give out removable car magnets, and/or vinyl static cling window decals, for people to show that they supported the organization. basically I want to blanket the parking lots on the island with big purple dots (6 or 9 inch round) with little sayings on them. sort of like those yellow ribbon magnets that people put on their cars in support of the troops. I want s…

Rubber Gloves 1 2

Hola Anyone used rubber gloves, ie, disposable latex sort, for applying film where you can hep but touch edge? To obviously avoid any skin or finger bits clinging on, even after washing through fingers. Had a go today, happy with result but can only put them on dry hands and use once and rinse the now latex fingers with water (as if they werent on).. if that makes sense its time consuming but better than a re-do let the rubber jokes begin..........

VS 61 Nighttime Vision Issue 1 2
by Guest johnnyp- 13 replies

I recently posted in the "general" section and realized that may have been the wrong place to post the message below: We just had Vista VS61 installed on 31 dual-pane windows in our loft space in Jersey City, NJ We have a beautiful view of NYC and look down onto the heart of Jersey City itself. That said...the view at night includes many lights - building lights, street lights, car headlights, etc. It's quite amazing...however, since we had the tinting installed we are experiencing severe "double vision" at night (that's probably the best way for me to describe it). Simply put, every set of lights is doubled...and in a city like this it's a bit overwhelming (imagine ev…

keep customers out 1 2

One easy way to keep customers out of the shop is to stratigically place clear liner sheets on the floor. When they slip and fall you can just point to the sign. "Because of insurance regulations............................" I don't actually do this, but have seen people fall from doing just that.

Had to push a bunch of 10 year olds out of the way at walmart to get a turn, but I eventually got to play. Wife had to drag me away and tell me it was someone else's turn to play after a while though Walmart had their demo 360 setup and some pretty neat game, some world war 2 game I believe. Pretty damn cool, looked like I was playing on a PC. Very fluent motion and effects. I'm hooked.

just an easy to make, self explanitory tool for contoured visor strips. for those who need explanation, its used to draw line for the bottom of visor strips so they contour the curve of the windshield, rather than sloping down on the ends.

We arrange to collect it at 5pm, he rings at 4.45 saying he will be an hour late...arrives at 6.15pm. I can't believe this guy screwed me at both ends today. Worst I've ever had! Rubber puller-upper, Part II
by Guest God_Of_All_Tinters- 0 replies
In a previous tip of the week (Rubber Puller Upper), it was mentioned that the tinter used to use a metal hook to pull up the rubber gasket, but stopped using it for fear of scratching the tint. I have a solution that has worked really well for me for years. Take a long section of shrink tubing that you would use for stereo installation and put it on the shank of the hook tool that you're using all the way from the handle to about 1/3 of the hook itself. Once you heat the tubing down, it will protect the tint from even the most heavy-handed tinter. If the tubing that you're using is really thick, repeat the steps with a second layer of shrink tubing.

Does anyone know of any calculators or estimating tools available to help calculate film requirements including waste on big flat glass jobs? I know carpet installers have a program they use it seems we should be able to use something similar. Doing the calculations manually takes too long when you're trying to provide on the spot quotes for a customer. Wftech

My wife said she had some shopping to do after picking up James her son and asked if I needed her home in the morning. I told her no problem I had some work to finnish up and then help out a buddy at his house (Bustin up cement in his basement ) I called her after lunch to see how things where going, and what time her dad was coming over (to pick up his cycle trailer). She said hes been there and gone this morning. I asked what shes doing and what time she'll be home. She said shes out b-day shopping for me and will be home soon. I responded that all she needs to get me is a card and a nice dinner out, or that new roadstar that I've been wanting She says that she …
