About 4 months ago I tinted an office in the SDS 20, now the client came back to me to ask if the could have 4 mil window film fitted over the top which I did about 3 weeks ago, now, ive gone back to collect payment for the 4 mil job and when I was getting out my van I noticed loooads of spots 10 to 15 mill in size on every pane, at first I thought it must be a reaction of some sort but when you get right up close it just looks like small pockets of water as you would expect...phew. I havent spoke to the client for a week and im a bit apprehensive to make that call , im hopeing every thing has settled down a bit more by now . So im just woundering if its something ive d…

I was wonding if anyone could help match some film here. It is the MMM farsara sh2ma-ml. I was told that the solyx sxwf-wm is an identical match, but if anyone could confirm this or know of any other brand that would work, it would be appreciatedd. Also another film I'm not familiar with is Scothcal white - 60% light transmission with the #3635-70 From what I understand, it isnn't just white matte. Thanks!

This post was gonna be for the Gainesville tinters, but it applies to all you guys, look at your work!!! I mean seriously, do you guys look at it when it's done?? I've retinted two cars in the past month for two of my "competitors" because of specks. Specks that could have easily been rubbed out if they had been touched up. Now for you Newbies, "touching up" is the final step to a perfect tint job, sure, we all want it to be perfect after it's squeegeed, but sometimes there are a few random specks. That's when you take your mighty chizler, and heat gun, and gently rub them out... I swear, it drives me crazy to see a tint job that would have been perfect if the lazy A-ho…

Stupid Car

summer 2003 - Oregon (Summer 2003, Oregon) There was no media coverage on this one. I was a witness and rescuer. Around 7AM, I looked up from the machine I was running at work, and saw an older-model Nissan at the stop sign across the street. Its emergency flashers were on. A heavyset young woman emerged, opened the hood, and leaned in to manipulate something inside. Suddenly the car lurched forward, knocking her down. I immediately ran for the door. By the time I started across the parking lot, the bumper of the car was up over her lower belly, and was slowly shoving her out into the four-lane boulevard! If she had been thinner, the car very probably would have rolled …

Big Windows 1 2 3 4

On the DR35 job I am doing on Tuesday, many of the windows are 71 x 80. In the past I have had some issues with water fingers forming toward the bottom half as I squeegee. Lifting the film and resetting it has almost always lead to contamination. It seems if I go too fast on the squeegee and don't give the slip time to settle, I have set a cease on a water finger. Last time a took my hands and tried to flatten it out and that seems to be helpful. Any tips? Windoworx

Window Reflection causes Vinyl Siding Meltdown

Riddler wrote: >>I went and checked out the windows. A pair of DH's with only the lower sections screened with standard exterior screening. The windows are facing south and measure about 5' high. The damage to the vinyl siding which supposedly has a melting point of 160 degrees also is at a height of 5' at a 90 degree angle a few feet away from the windows. Another interesting thing she mentioned was that the slate grey siding is the only one known to "melt". As I recall, my previous experience with this problem was all slate grey siding as well. << >>I have seen a few cases like this over the years<< Riddler: I would like to talk with you abo…

Hey guys...I need your help. We have got onto a US summer program that wants young Aussies to be camp counsellors to look after your kids whilst on summer vacs. This seems to be quite a good idea.. worldly experience and all. Do all you Americans take your kids to these camps and dump 'em for 12 weeks?? :fdup It looks a huge business right across your nation! I'm having trouble getting my head around it. Young Devil could end up possibly along the East Coast of the USA somewhere. We've just go to get him there and they pay him as well. What do you think of it? would it be good? Cheers, Devil

My wife and her best friend gave me an early birthday surprise last night. Took me to see The Offspring in downtown San Francisco. Small venue setup. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. They sounded great. No difference in sound from their CDs. If they come to your area I highly recommend going to see them.

Reverse Rolling? Best way to release liner & Spray 1 2 3
by Guest chip01- 20 replies

What is the best way to release the liner and lay it back down on the tint before rolling the film for back glass install. I have found that I am getting quite a lot of contamination in my install and I think that it could be down to my technique. At the moment I am leaving the film and the back window after it is shrunk and peeling one half of the liner and soaking then laying back down then the other side. After this rolling from one side to the other, but I am getting contam!! Could this be down to me using baby powder and the solution making it run onto the film I don't know or anything else that is effecting a clean install Thanks in advance guys

Heya all, a few weeks back there were some posts about problems with the radio and central locking on these cars after they'd been tinted. Some arguements stated the metalized films caused this problem and others that water had damaged the antenna beneath the plastic moulding. I tinted one at the time and had this problem. I removed the tint from the rear and the problem still occured. The customer took it to the main dealers and they confirmed it was this atenna that needed replacing. I gave the customer his money back for the TINT and said I would pay the repair bill. The bill came in this morning ?495.00 + VAT!!

Tinting Fix-it cheats 1 2
by Guest Kleen- 16 replies
- 1.1k views
Hi Guys, Ok, so I got yet another fix-it ticket. I really dont have the money to pay to take it off, which is $100 plus another $200 to put it back on. To get out of the court date I would need to pay $506 which I certainly dont have. Does anyone have some sort of cheat to get by with? I take the car to shows and dont drive it too much in town since they seem to look for me. The car would just not look right to me without the tint. So I want to find the easiest/best way to just get out of this delema. Thanks for all your help! Kleen

Here is a new idea for alot of you guys and girls on here. open your minds a little bit I dont know how many times I have seen somebody post about something they just discovered only to be shot down right away before it has even been tried. 10 years ago I would have been laughed at if I said I am going to shrink this back glass with baby powder. Now it is a common practice for shrinking. I know I am not the greatest at explaining myself via internet, But all I am trying to say is this. Stop bieng so quick to rule out an idea you have never tried. Just because you cant see it working for what ever reason. Isnt that what this site is all about learning other tricks from …

Hey Just found this forum, pretty damn cool. Just had a question. Lets say you have 70% glass all around the vehicle. You put 20% all around. Obviously the rear windows will appear darker because of the less light entering the vehicle from the back but it is pretty much the same all around. Ok, next, layering another 20% on the rear windows brings it to AROUND 5%.. which I believe to be correct. Then layering a 35% over the front 20% brings it around 10%? or so? I am sure I will be corrected for my first paragraph, but where I am going with this is... I noticed its much harder to see than usual at night (I know its still a fresh layer, but still).. Would putting a sing…

Which is the best to use in a shop environment. Do you need both. And what is the use of a wall mount glass if you cannot move it closer to the window you want to tint. I have seen other onces that are on wheels where the glass is horizontal, are these better because you can for rear windows the right way or just the same Thanks
