Either later this week or early next week I am going to stop by a few areas where new homes are going up to see about leaving my cards and/or brochures and I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and had any success in being allowed to, and then having new home buyers contact you for their tinting needs. I have a customer that want me to tint a 3ft by 4ft window at a hospital. He told me that he wants this window to be as dark as possible and dose not want to see threw it. So my question is if I was to put limo on this window and its still isn't dark enough for this guy can I put another layer of limo over the first one? If yes how long should I let the first layer dry before I put on the second. And if this was you how much would you charge for a job like this. Im thinking I should charge alot for this job due to this guy only wanting me to do one window. Thanks to those who respond.

ok ive been using johnson now for the last couple years but I was thinking about trying some llumar because so many people around here are always asking for it but is the stuff really much better? its almost xx - xx dollars more per roll than im paying now and that will cut my margin down. The only issue im having is the sil series always looks a little to silver from the outside than what I want if I use a 15 on the rear and 25 on the front it makes a big difference. and I hear shrinking is a little better with llumar?

Brand & Acronyms???????????

Since I'm catchin' up from years of not tinting back when Llumar was the only game & we called it by either Limo, Dark, Med, Light & clear or by its part #.....(don't ask, I can't remember anymore)......BH24 sumfin or 'nother......... Anyway................... I'm hopin' someone can post here w/ popular acronyms & brand association so I can get a feel & maybe be a good reference thread after?? HP = High Performance, IIRC for film. I also know metalized films have become quite popular. Color-stable sounds new (& a PITA to work with?)...............anyway...........you get the gist........ TIA!!

I just talk to my buddy who works for sema and he told me to make sure me and my guest wear a polo or dress shirts to the show. he told me that sema may make a decision to stop people from attending the show if they dressed to casual. I asked him why and he said sema is trying to eliminate the amount of consumers that are attending the show, and from a survey they took most retailers are usually dressed in a polo shirt of somekind with their company logo on it. he said their not 100% sure they will do this or will they randomly pick people at the show but I just wanted to give everyone the heads upon the show if you are going.

First window I ever tinted was the rear quarters on my '63 VW Bug. This was back in.............errr............1987(?) Well.......long time ago. I've probably tinted a total of like 20-25 cars in my whole life. I did get a commercial job ONCE. Did the bottom half of a Lamppost Pizza ('bout 20 windows). That was fun......(ahhh, flat glass!) I've N-E-V-E-R used a heat gun............Eevvvvaaarrrrr!!!! I'd kinda' like to shake the rust off & handle my current vehicles (both need retint) and poss…

I was told today that it will be roughly about 5 bills to get out da door on the 22nd of next month. If you buy the system with wireless controllers, count on blowing through a lot of AA batteries, or you buy the presto changeo rechargeable device which is I believe around 30 dolla. I had also added on the 40 dolla warranty deal as well. It does come in handy at least with the old system, I 've been through 3 of them. Just a heads up.

Help! Contamination after tinting 1 2 3 4
by Guest newtintr- 37 replies

Hi all. Newbie here. I just finished tinting my wife's car last night. Overall, it turned out very nice. However, this morning I noticed there's a couple strands of the headliner lint material in the back glass! Any recommandations from you pros on how I could get rid of them? Don't tell me I need to redo the whole thing again! I also found one big piece of dust under the driver side window that my wife couldn't stop bitching about. It's one of those dusts that's tall enough to cause a noticeable bubble around it. Any ways to get rid of it without redo the whole glass? Thanks guys for your time.

How long does it take you pro's to shrink a back glass on a GTO/Grand-am/Mustang ??? Takes me about an hour to do my friends GTO. I'm starting to understand how the film shrinks and moves when shrinking but it just takes a long time. I've heard of people shrinking back glass's in less than 10 minutes. I can't see how thats possible. You can only move so fast and have to shrink so much to get it to lay flat without creasing or burning it, I just don't see how its possible. Perhaps my method is totaly off. Maybe someone can tell me a crash course? Or.... If anyone is near the metro-detroit area and is willing to let me come watch/ease drop for a day I would LOVE it

Anyone Heard of the following for B/G install? 1 2 3
by Guest chip01- 21 replies
- 1.1k views
Shrink back glass as per usual put pattern off the window on place on workstation (or leave on glass). Do the usual of lifting the liner from one side and misting and laying down then the other. Prepping the back glass for install then, carry the pattern with the liner attached frankie style into the car and laying on the rear shelf. At this point release the liner from the pattern from one side to completly lift off then apply to the window. Have not tried it myself but sounds like a good tip and is supposed to be really clean install. Has anyone tried it?
