I have for sale a Roland Plotter GX- 400 with Laptop purchased from Film and Vinyl design out of Fort Worth Texas. I paid $4700.00 for this unit on sale at time with laptop. We used for 6 months last year and I finally got around to putting it up for sale right now since it was sitting with a cover on it in the shop. It is in mint condition. It is a 40 inch plotter and will do all films and PPF. We used Film and Vinyl design for these services with monthly subscription. You can steal this one with the laptop for $2850.00. I believe these are over $5000.00 now We are located in South Florida Deerfield Beach Florida. Won't last.

I wish I would of know this info years ago. I recently bought a surface pro 3 and have been told it wouldn't work with my Roland CX-400, how ever we all been tricked. The only thing that has to be done is to install the GX series drivers off Rolands website, for the windows 8 operating system. Drivers work for both CX and GX series of plotters. I have been using the older OS and now that I know this I can use any OS. So now it is out there that the CX series Camm1 pro can run in any OS, windows 7 and 8 plus the older of course. XP, ME and more

Good afternoon. I have a Rolland VS-540 machine and I want to know if I can use my machine to cut a predetermined size of window Film, but not cut only the material, I want to cut also the liner, is this possible with my machine? I have tried adjusting the pressure of the blade but was not successful, I have been led to believe that I can adjust the depth of the blade, but not sure of this. Thanks, Jose

CX-400 problems
by Guest 7m34life- 3 replies

I currently use a Roland CX-400 plotter to cut my film. The plotter has worked fine until about 2 months ago I didn't pay attention to how little film I had on the roll and it sucked to plastic roll up and hit the head and jammed the machine. Now when I do longer cuts around 50"-60" it will feed about 3" out and jams and says power off error. I can get around that by going ahead and feeding out how much film I'll need and feeding it back in that way it doesn't have the tension of pulling it off the roll. This morning I went to make a cut with it and it keeps on getting my film wadded up and tearing the film as it's cutting. I run it on 15 cm/s and 120gf on the force just …

Hey guys, I have the opportunity to buy a Roland 24" PNC 1100 for $150. I'm new to the plotter world and I'm having trouble finding out if this machine works with window film. The guy selling it says that all plotters will cut film with the right blade. That may be, but I don't see any of you using this particular plotter, which has me a little worried. Do you know if it will accept a 25 degree blade, or if there's any reason it shouldn't work with window film? Any insight is much appreciated! -Michelle

tint bunches up in plotter

Hello, my name is Gary. I own a local sign/graphics shop. I'm new to the forum & window tinting. I'm facing an issue with the tint feeding properly through my plotter & sticking. It bunches up bad as soon as the cut begins. I read one suggestion, wiping down the plotter with fabric softener to keep from sticking, but had no success. I'm not sure if my cut down force or speed plays apart of this, I will troubleshoot through that, but as soon as I hit the setup button to measure the tint & it rolls back into place, you can see a crease/small bunch up already forming before the cutting begins. Has anyone had a similar issue? My plotter/printer is a Roland sc500.

Hi guy's. Please excuse if I'm rambling on a bit. I'm a novice in the vinyl side of films. I purchased a GX 640 to play with and to eventually try and expand my window tinting business in other areas. I'm running "Vinyl Master Expt" edition. Does anyone else use this software or have used it? I like it so far as I'ts been pretty easy for me to learn basic vinyl cutting. Importing images/logos etc.. tracing, cleaning them up and really only doing the basic sort of stuff with ready images. I want to get more advanced now and try to learn how to create things myself from scratch. Example being where I found a 40+ year old crappy set of Shelby G.T. 350 side stripes. …

Roland CX-400 tears window tint film during cutting process.

Hello! Happy Holidays to everybody! I have Roland CX-400 cutter and I'm using it for cutting window tint film with Xpel software. I have a problem with my cutter. It constantly tears a window tint film. I tried to find out what have happened - because literally last week it worked fine. I've noticed that for some reason it started to cut film with one movement - I mean that cutter lowers cutting blade and cut film by moving the material up and down without raising up a cutting blade. I remember that before it worked different way - it feed nessesary amount of material from the roll, which located on the back of the plotter then it has started to cut - lowering blade…

I am in the market for a plotter but don't yet have several thousand dollars to purchase a 40" wide unit, so I am looking at 2 different units. 1) Roland GX-24 24" 2) US CUTTER 34" For cost sake, the US CUTTER may be more ideal, but I know Roland makes a great quality product. However, I am thinking I can do more things with the Roland but my main concern is that the Roland's 22.9" max cutting area is going to be enough to cut roll-ups on tahoes, F250's etc with larger windows.

Thought this may be helpful to the Roland plotter owners. I am currently building a "In field Maintenance" manual for our reps and indy tint shops with our equipment. Here is the guide bearing adjustment directions. This resolves issues in regards to poor blade calibration. If your guide bearing is fatigued from use or you have suffered a number of "film jams", your carriage can become loose. As a result you will have inconsistant cuts and in most cases not be able to correctly calibrate your blade settings. This specific part is close to $100 from Roland. From my experience you can adjust this part 2-3 times before you need to replace. End result, you have saved $200-$…

Help with Roland cutting
by Guest showitoff- 6 replies

So I recently purchased a Roland cx24 and I have flexi 8 on my computer with the production manager. I'll get to the point, lol Ex. I was trying to cut rectangle shapes for the hood of a car and when it goes to cut it cuts 3 of the lines and leaves out the fourth. Well I'm doing them 12" wide each so I mesured on the vinyl where my plotter was cutting and it's a perfect 12" from where the vinyl starts but it somehow includes the end and side holes as part of the mesurment to be cut. Hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to say and knows what may be causing this. I just started learning the program so I'm sure its some stupid rookie mistake but I'll learn.

Help setting up Roland Plotter
by Guest showitoff- 1 reply

So I bought a cam 1 gx24 Roland and didn't come with much of anything other than the cables and some clip art cds. I know eventually I want flexi but just wanna dip my feet for now and don't wanna tie up an extra chunk YET. So someone had told me corel draw can cut so we found a way to get it and I have the new X4 version and can't find a cut option. Then after checking around now come to find out most people are saying its to be used in conjuction with a cutting program like Roland Cut studio. Anyone have any advice on what programs that have a cut option with them???
