Hello, I have a black 2014 Ford Taurus Limited that I am looking to tint. I have tan/beige interior so I know 35% will be too light of a tint, but I’m afraid that 20% will be too hard to see out of at night. Any thoughts here?

Tried a number of windshield visor strips on my truck and haven't liked them. Also have tinted the entire windshield 50% but I got pulled over. My issue is with the visor strips is at night I feel it gets in my line of sight. I've tried even doing a straight cut one high at the AS1 line. These have been all 5% strips. The contrast between the clear window and the dark strip bothers my eyes for some reason So thinking two things or both. Either tint the whole windshield with a 70% Ceramic tint. How obvious is a 70% tinted windshield? Is it pretty much clear or is it obvious it is tinted? 50% I didint notice much from the inside but the outside on a overc…

Does the bottom seal need to be removed on these? If so does the whole panel need to be removed to get it out?

Did a soft top the other day, pretty easy. Yank door panels and slap on. Tint Tek over cuts, just trimmed lil less than 1/8 off.

New F150's have revised door panels among other changes but process is basically unchanged. There's one 7mm behind the sail panel at the top corner and two 7mm behind the access cover under the arm rest. The top of the panel will then pull back/roll off the seal and the seal cam be removed. For full removal there's two more 7mm at the bottom edge and on more behind the reflector at the rear of the panel. I only did the front doors so no info on the rears but I doubt there's anything radically different there either. Biggest improvement is no longer having to remove the armrest trim.

New here, does anyone one else have a bit of trouble with the back glass window ? I’ll first use a dryer sheet or soup the glass down and place the film on and do the H figure tack down and do it in quarters. After that I wet shrink to get the fingers I didn’t see out and yet still I get pesky fingers on the bottom corners from time to time when I install the film.

I recently had my vehicle inspected everything passed except my windows, the station said they failed because the percentage is out of the allowable range. I told them I've had this truck four years it has never failed the inspection for the window tinting. I had it inspected at a different station last year and it passed. I questioned them about their equipment, when was it last calibrated, could they retest it. They stood there and tried to tell me as the tint ages it gets darker. So I could have passed last year but could've been closed to minimum allowance. So what i want to find out and don't seem to find any real answer on the web is it this a true statement, "does …

For the panels its 1-10 mm behind handle cover (pry cover from front of vehicle). Grab the middle of the seal, pull straight up and it flexes out.

Do the whole door panels have to come off to remove the seals? Or can you take the one 10mm screw out the top behind latch and pull? I know the top of the panel sets in the channel of the seal.

Just wondering if anyone has done one of these before and how the rear corner windows are to tint ? Customers dropped it off when I wasn’t there and have it to look forward to tomorrow and was wondering if it’s not as bad as it looks ?

This is the 2nd RS model we did with 3M Crystalline. Crystalline 40 on side and back glass and Crystalline 70 on windshield. Rear top spoiler must be remove for shrinking the back glass for a easy install. Front windshield on this vehicle is big for such a small car.....Not a easy windshield to heat shrink in Crystalline. There are 7 screw to unscrew to remove rear top spoiler. The plastic cover will pop off to reveal the 7 screws. All the blue tape mark all the screw that need to be remove. The spoiler will pop off with a little muscle on each end. The front door sweep is super easy to remove. Remove the door speaker by just popping it off…

Just did one yesterday, easy car once all the panels were removed. The spoiler is in the way on the top, I took it off also. You can just pull the seal out of the bottom, but I wanted to pull the plastic trim out of the way so I pulled the panels. This is defenitly an imported car for Ford, looks like a EURO car the way its put together. I will post pictures later if you want to see them. If you have any questions about the trim panels just let me know.

Well did the roll downs and a visor on my buddies transit connect tonight. I could go with never having to do those front quarters again. Had to recut the first one a little smaller, got it to fit and used the liner as a template. Once I got that locked in I did them both fairly quick but yuk. Those things have angles and tight flippin gaskets I could do without the rest of my life. lol. Roll downs on the other hand were bout the easiest pattern ever. Just had to tape everything since the whole window is felt liners....so just another reason not to like it....lol. But turned out pretty clean all considered. Had one bad line in the top corner on passenger side that…

Had my pick tool ready to remove a mirror today on a new F-series and low and behold it had a torx screw on it! I was shocked and had to look 3 times just to make sure I was seeing it right.... maybe it is finally going to be the way it should be. No more hammering on a windshield!

Sounds stupid but took me several minutes to find the button to drop the rear sun shade in this car . It is hidden in the compartment in front of the gear select . For some reason on this vehicle it would not stay down so we tricked it by hitting the button down and as soon as it reaches the bottom turn the ignition off and it stayed there .

So i was contacted about tinting a F150 windshield. Okay, no big deal. Ive done plenty of them. The custy tells me the windshield was just replaced and that my competition tried a couple times and couldnt do it. I thought this was odd because every other F150 windshield ive done was pretty easy. Anyway, i gave it the old college try a couple times with some ATR and it just wasnt happening. The film was at its limit in all 4 corners, top and bottom. Ended up creasing. Could this be the aftermarket windshield or did Ford make a small run of different windshields during that time or what?? I do 200-300 windshields a year and something was definately up with that one.

If you have to do the back doors on a new '16 Explorer. beware of the quarter windows. Hopefully you will be doing one that is already tinted. If not, let them know it won't be perfect on the 1/4 and you might have to use the blackout pen. There is a hard rubber gasket that protrudes about 1/4" into the glass. It cannot be removed without a lot of work(unnecessary work), making a real PITA. These pics are to show the difference in the patterns. The darker image is the inside pattern. The lighter portion is if you cut it on the outside.

Hey all, I have a 2016 Ford F250 coming up and haven't done one of this year or late model. Owner was wanting the entire truck done as its untinted/plain glass. I was just wondering about door panels as I'm a panel puller. Specifically what mm bolts and locations if anyone knows of the top of their head. Do these have clips or are they hooks like some of the early 2000 Fords? Solid rear I believe has the ceramic edge and is not set in rubber like previous F250's. Seems pretty straight forward otherwise. Any help greatly appreciated.....

Has anyone experienced having issues with the back glass laying down without having those "peanut shape" bubbles coming back up from the rear glass defroster lines?? I have tried it twice. I never though it was an issue till I did one yesterday and I even tried "0000 steel wool" on the defrost lines for the second application. Still bubbled back up and almost the exact same spots as well!!! Made me look like I didn't know what I was doing and I spent HOURS tryin to get the window right. Finally gave up bout 9:00 last night and I have to try to find a solution to go finish the job which is an hour away from me! Needless to say I'm not very happy about this!!! Can any relat…

To remove the sweep. You got to remove the screw behide the door handle. BE AWARE: YOU MUST LIFT IT UP WHERE THE SPEAKER ARE AT. If you pulled it from inside the door handle, it will break guarantee.

So I did an f350 15 passenger van. This thing was a cake walk with miles of glass!!!! Two of the windows have latches that allow the window to pop outward and "vent". I popped the latches and removed the hardware and ultimately the glass. Shrinked to fit then used a circle template next size bigger than the hardware and sliced out the holes. I do this for the '88-'99 style Chevrolet ext. Cab quarter windows as well...they generally turn out quite nice this way. I was just wondering how others do these types of windows?

Ideas, directions from seasoned experienced tinters...... Ive been tinting on and off for the last 2 years... I've done a Toyota Corolla 2012, Nissan NV ( the large Van) , Acura RSX 2002, VW Jetta 2011...plus at least a dozen more or so cars. Ive been using FlexFilm's "PanaFlex" 20% from Ralph.... really nice film.. easy to shrink.. lays down nice.... and I believe it's a higher end nice quality film.... I just did a 2017 Ford Mustang V6.. not a GT... the side windows were easy once I figured out how to do them..since they drop about 1/2" when you open the doors.... but the back window kick my butt !! I heat shrank the back window... I didn't splice it, bu…

How in the world do you guys cut the pattern on the f150 rear side roll ups. I ended up marking the sides with a sharpie then rolling down a little and cut top edge. But every time I would have to remark my rear side because the previous mark would somehow be way too short. And also the rear bottom right edge has that rounded molding on the outside, but the interior is nice and square. I hope this makes sense to you pros. I'm still learning. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

I recently did one of these and I had trouble doing the back window in one piece. So I did it in 2 pieces but I had trouble getting the seam cut straight. I had a small light gap in the middle. I saw it a few days after I did it and didn't like how it looked so I told them to bring it back and I would fix it. My question is do you guys normally do this window in 1 or 2 pieces. I normally do rear windows in 1 piece. I'm using a baby powder method.

We did 2 of these yesterday not to bad the door windows are pretty curved so you definitely want to shrink them, the rear defroster is thick I would recommend using the 0000 steel wool before installing back window.
