I pulled the first cover from the wrong direction and it snapped in half. The local ford dealer said you can't just buy that piece and to get the piece, you had to order all the trim in that section which retailed for around $215. Does anyone know where I could buy it online? It can not be repaired

So I did a 2012 F150 today (front roll ups). It was easy peasy. When I slid the passenger panel off I heard a metallic clank inside the door wasn't sure what it was figured I'd knock the tint out and deal with it when I was done. When I slid the panel back down I tried to put the small bolt back behind the door handle when I realized what the clank had been. These Fords much like the 2010-and newer Chevrolet/GMC Silverado/Sierra have a little threaded clip that the bolt screws into. This clip had fallen off and that was the clank. No worries right? Wrong.... I naturally broke out the magnet and checked the bottom of the interior of the door.....no clip. Then I noti…

Front door glass, privacy to the rear. Beautiful to do....remove one screw where the door grab handle is but to get to it make sure you lift the tiny plastic cover plate that hides that screw from the rear first as it has a tongue in the front which slots in forward. Once that screw is out, the door top comes back easily and enough to pull the rubber out. You could do these all day forever, Devil

Has anyone ever done a the back glass on a 69 Mustang? Does it need to be heat shrunk? It doesn't seem to be too much of a curve, any experience would be appreciated. The glass is out of the car and was thinking it may be better to tint it prior to installation.

Has anyone removed the panels on one of these? I removed two bolts at the bottom of the panel, two behind the door handle and one under the window switches but when I went to slide it up off the gasket it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to break anything so I just tinted it with the panels on. Am I missing a bolt or something? Do you have to remove the door speaker? Thanks in advance for any advice!

hey, I am sure this has been covered but I am not finding it via search. On the newer ford trucks the rearview mirror is a nasty spring clip that I have removed before, but never easily. I know there is a "pry bar" like tool that Equalizer sells, but I have an issue prying against the glass...... This mirror mount is the one that you can see the spring clip from the outside sticking down past the button....... any easy way to remove? turned one away today as I am not willing to risk breaking another glass.

Simple car. This car has tight door panels, and just like to newer Focuses, the trim that runs vertical along the back of the window rests over the rear of the DP gasket. You can remove the hidden screws behind the plastic trim near the top of the DP, gently pry out the DP at the top, slide the base of the vertical trim panel toward the DP, and remove the gasket. Make sure the vertical trim pops back into position when you're done, all the way up. I have no clue how the DPs come off. I tried at first, but gave up and just removed the gasket. back glass is cake now that they removed the dots and isolated the brake light. It looks a lot like the BMWs, all the way do…

I've tinted quite a few of these and most back glass installs have given me very little trouble, a little tight but not too bad. However, I've had a couple that have absolutely no room to slid tint far enough down to cover glass. Does anybody know why this is? I know that the hybrid trunk space is a little smaller due to the battery pack. Can anyone confirm that the hybrid fusions are a much tighter install over the standard? Maybe it's just a coincident and the tight back glass are completely random.

I've done many newer Fords ext cabs and 4 doors with huge headrests that become removable if you fold seat up. Not this one. It even had the old style vent windows with the 3 buttons to cut around. Really? 2013 still using the 90s windows? It was an ext cab with work truck trim, the bottom of the seat would fold up but the seat back was fixed, no evident fasteners, and the headrests were bolted to the rear of the cab apparently. And yes, they were nearly as tall as the glass, plus the center seatbelt upper anchor partially covers the glass too. I rolled it, folded it and manuvered it in, used a bulldozer and stroke doctor to squeegee it. Turned out good this time, but …

Have you ever turned down a job because your passion for the classic cars goes beyond window film? Well, today I turned it down, in fact convinced the owner of not doing it. I got a customer asking me for a quote on a 1941 Ford Coupe. We both looked at each other, he was waiting for me to answer, I was looking at him in disbelief. I said, why do you want to tint it and what are you trying to get out of it? He said, he wanted to pass it to his son as part of the inheritance. The son looks at me, I knew he did not wanted to go forward with the job. I told the old guy, this car is like you - a classic. Old guy looks at me, you're right. This car is unique.

Hey guys! I've got a 1999 Taurus wagon to tint tomorrow. The last time I did one of these it was in two pieces. Anyone got any tips on what kind of new cool shrinking method would get it in one piece?? I really want to try the lift and pull but I don't want to waste a ton of film. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Here we have the back seat of a newer-model F-150. The headrest cannot be removed to allow access to the back window. Here the back seat has been removed. How'd I do that? Well look closely at the metal framework behind the seat bottom. You'll see two black plastic hook-shaped pieces. That's all that holds it in. Closer look at the plastic bracket. Very close look. This bracket is impossible to see with the seat-back in. However you can easily feel the bottom hook portion when you reach your hand in. Now, notice the two arch shapes on the top? The top one does nothing, but the lower one is the part that holds the seat in. You have to maneuver your hand behind the…

I'm tinting a 97 model Ford Ranger extended cab. I have to tint the back in 5%. What do you guys do for the extended cab windows that pop out? There is no black border around where the screw holes are, That hold the glass on. I've pulled one out. Just for screws but I can not seem to get the opening bracket off the window. Thanks for the help.

Does anybody have any good tricks for dealing with those? I use the trick of spraying really soapy water on the edges of the film, and into the side gaskets of the windows, but they are possibly worse than the early 90's Accords.

Had a 2010 Fusion in the shop to day for 20% all around. The only thing that had me worried on this car was those pesky quarter windows. And I'll tell ya what, with the help of this forum, I trimmed about 1/8th away from the window, and it came out perfect. Even glued the dot matrix. This car is seriously a cake walk!

Easy car to do as far as the side windows except the front vent looking window they added has to be precisely cut to fit and I cut a conquistador in half to squeegee it. Although I've done a few of these I would love to pull the rear carpet deck on the next one. Folded seats down and pulled the 4 Christmas tree clips. What else is involved in removing these? Anybody have a step by step? It won't budge!

How the hell do you get the brake light outta these things Even if I cut it out, theres still two rubber nubs in the way. I tried sliding the tint by those nubs and damaged it in the process I could always cut it a little higher above the nubs, but that would leave a light gap visible from the drivers seat... unacceptable. I have already broken all 4 plastic screws that come thru the top of the trunk (whatever, replaceable) . Ive tried prying it every way possible with no luck . This was such an easy car to tint too- god damn ford design team can suck my nuts- why make a rear brake light so hard to take out??? what if the light burnt out? I dunno, but im goin…

Cake walk.....t20 torx behind door release handle. Front doors have a t20 behind the corner at the rear of the panel towards the top. Pop trim on outside edge of pull handle and the switch and inside of the pull handle comes up revealing two more t20s torx. Panels simply pop of. In addition on the front doors teeter cover pops right off and tweeter pod panel pops off. Backside of tweeter housing /forward section of upper window moulding trim pops off. To remove rear portion of frame trim moulding remove t20 at the base of it on the front doors as the back door ones just pop off. Rear deck: remove 4 push retaining plugs(?) at front of deck lid behind rear seats. De…
