I can't afford ceramic and don't want 35% on the sides. For dyed film... I've looked at most all the manufacturers including madico, solarguard, formula one classic , etc. I'm either going to go with: -3M's Color Stable w/ lifetime (20% illegally all the way around) -Llumar's Centaur (Sputtered Alloy) w/ lifetime (legal 18% back and 28% on the sides. The guy said that the Centaur was a good film that has a slight shine to it and it makes it look like the glass is cleaner. I wonder if this SUV is done in Centaur... or just a premium dye... http://www.llumar.com/na-eng/Automotive/car-styler.html Any Thoughts? If anyone has used Llumar Centaur film please let me…

Ford polution control problems

My mechanic has told me that my EGR valve and the pipes that go to it may be cloged. He said this is a common problem. It just gets cloged up with carbon and you have to clean it out. Is this something that I could fix myself? If so how difficult will it be. Also, since I am at it would it be a good idea to just replace the EGR valve since I have it appart? He said the pipes and crap are hard to clean out. He will do it for $350. Is this a good deal? Should I attempt it myself?

mirror ?
by Guest filmat11- 0 replies

I have a ford mirror that I would like to find what ford product it fits. It is a chrome bullet shaped manual remote controled mirror ( three cable operated ) . It appears to be the driver side mirror ( judging from the base structure ) . Inside the base casting is the number D14241-1 . The FoMoCo emblem is cast on the outer surface ( quite small 1/4 inch ? ) . I can send pictures if anyone has a good idea. I am assuming this is somewhere in the 1950's through mid 1960's . Or even a good link to try. How about the name of the manufacturer that Ford used during this era ? Maybe the number is theirs and not Ford's . Thanks ! ! This is new unused !

Taurus Gasket 1 2
by Guest Foogoo- 13 replies
- 3.5k views
Some of you probably already saw my post in the main forum about tinting an '89 Taurus . For the other back window, I think there is no way to do it without the molding/gasket in. How do I get it out? I was looking at it today and it didn't look like it came out, but the consensus seems to be yank it. Thanks.

I just realized today while I was tinting one, that I had never done one of these before. I don't know why, but I've never even priced one. so my question is, what the hell do you do with the back glass? I did it, but DAMN. it was hell trying to keep the crap from coming down into the top of the film, and it had quite a bit, more than I would like anyway. so what does everybody else do? .

has anyone had trouble doing rear windows of this model after shrinking I'll make small cuts along the corners about 2-3 inches on the sides down to maybe 5 inches toward the taillight. so when I'm squeegying the film the fingers I've made act like anchors seems to work for me every time. just .02 cents worth

you can pull back the top of the door panel and take the seal out, it seperate from the door panel now, it used to be attached to the door panel, you could pull those back on the older models also but the new ones are much easier, lots more room to feed your tint down if you peel the whole thing like I do on those cars. so just grab the top and pull up and remove the whole seal.

Ford recalls Escape SUVs 2001 Ford Escape by Associated Press posted Apr 13, 2004 DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 363,440 Escape compact sport utility vehicles from model years 2001-2003 because the engine may stall at certain speeds. Ford said some Escapes with a 3-liter, V-6 engine may experience an intermittent stall when decelerating at speeds below 40 mph. Of the total amount, about 322,000 of the vehicles are in the United States. The remainder are elsewhere in North America and overseas. In most cases, the automaker said, the driver is able to restart immediately after the stall. Ford said its automotive safety office has identified eight minor…

Ford declined recall over door latches, law papers show The Associated Press advertisement DEARBORN, Mich. - Ford Motor Co. overruled its safety engineers' recommendations to recall up to 4.1 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles that had substandard door latches, court documents showed. A Ford safety engineering team determined in March 2000 that latches on certain 1997-2000 light trucks didn't meet federal safety standards. The trucks include the popular F-150, F-250, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models, according to internal Ford memos made public during court cases. After the recommendations, Ford ordered immediate design changes for future veh…

Crown Victoria Cleared in Trooper's Death -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AIADA summary ST. LOUIS - The gas tank of a Missouri state highway patrolman's Ford Crown Victoria was not to blame when the cruiser burst into flames after being slammed from behind during a traffic stop, killing the officer, federal investigators have ruled. Gas tanks in Crown Victorias have been scrutinized following a number of fiery wrecks that killed law enforcers, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the gas tank of Trooper Michael Newton's vehicle was not compromised in the collision. how do I pull these windows out to tint or do I even need to?
-
This one was a bute Really I almost puked when I looked at it today. The guy says to me "it's a classic." I was thinking sure looks like a classic piece of I had never seen one like this before. It had wing windows in the front doors. The locks for them were all rusty and the rubber gaskets were so old they had rotted and fallen out. I told the guy that we would try to remove the locks but if we couldn't without breaking them we would have to cut a slit in the corner of the lock and slide the film around it. He proceeds to show me with his finger "why don't you just cut the film here and don't even worry about that area." If I tint it like he showed me it would…

all right all you gasket cutters, here's how we pullers do it. reach inside and grab the lip of the back glass gasket in the top corner. pull it down and push on the glass. these glasses are so easy it's not even funny. they literally fall out by themselves.

Got one on Friday. I have been looking at a friends and removed the back quarter windows. On the quarter window it has a fixing which holds the opening mechanism, having removed the opening mechanism I cant work out how to remove the fixing within the window. There are no screws, clips etc!! I tried just gripping one side with some plyers and twisting the other side, but this does not work. Will I have to just cut round it or can it be removed so I can get a clean tint without cutting around the fixing?
