Be aware of this car you cannot take a razor blade to the glass it has a IR coating on it that you will scratch. I don't know how to remove the film even if you install it because you cannot take a razor blade to to it at all the Glass cost $257 to replace.

Do not remove any film that you've installed on the back glass. I had scratched the film on the back glass with my bulldozer. It must of caught some dirt. Two weeks ago I did the install and now I go to R/R with a jiffy steamer. Film starts to come off easy no glue left behind but IT TOOK HALF OF THE LINES WITH IT. No glue was left behind. Lexus in their infinite wisdom has made the lines razor thin. Even if your were unlucky enough to have glue still on the back glass, 0000 steel wool will still take the lines off. FWIW it was an OEM BG. This is a warning to others don't let this happen to you. If you do tint it make sure it's with good film that you shouldn't ever have …

You guys tint a lot. Lexus has always had factory non-film tinted windows, especially on rear windows/doors. Is that supposed to be a soft coating that is easily scratched? I peeled off my aftermarket tint today, and scrubbed the glass with a non-scratch pad, and it left a bunch of scratches on the driver side glass! I'm wondering if lexus added coatings to the glass 15 years ago.

Gaskets : Front door panels are a pain in the bean sack to pull back!!. Gaskets came out easy. Back doors were easy to pull back. Tinting: VERY easy to tint! The door panels are just ANNOYING! *putting the gaskets back in and putting the back door panels back on without taking the whole panel off was worse than a frog humping your leg!!* pulling the gaskets off the back doors is NOT WORTH IT! Id rate the difficulty a 1 out of 5. 5 meaning the hardest.

The articles I have read lead me to believe that the rear seats fold down. I don't see a release latch anywhere. I did leave my glasses at home today. Does anyone have any ideas? I can do it without letting the seats down but it would make the job easier. Thanks

Did a 2011 front door panel only has 3 screws BUT WATCH POPPING UP THE SWITCH ASSEMBLY! The surrounding material is way soft and will tear in a heartbeat. I used a nylon trim tool and it still was wanting to gouge it. Happy tinting folks.

Pull off armrest pry up switch 2 screws 1 screw behind opener. Panel is off. Rear glass spoiler not in way of cutting. Small opera front door tucks nice. The one I tinted had no factory tint. There also was no IR on any windows to worry about. Fairly easy to tint

Door panels are easy to pop loose at the top after removing the phillips screw behind a small cover just behind thedoor handle. No need to remove entire door panel. Then the window sweep can be pulled out easily for bottom loading. Third brake light moves to right and removes easily. This car is a piece of cake!

07 Windows - easy for the backs, a tad difficult for the fronts for the small "corner" of the window. Definitely snap the windows. Sweeps - not the easiest to take out but i only took out the front. BG - piece of cake Difficulty: 2/5

I didn't see anything on this model. Anyone done one yet? I can't imagine this one is that hard but I haven't seen the car in person and the back window looks pretty sloped. Any insight is appreciated!

Do the older Is300's like the 2001 have the same peanut problem as the newer models? Anything else to watch out for? Will be using 3M FX Premium on it.

The new Lexus coupes have a deep slanted rear glass. In order to take out the headrests you have to lower the rear seat back. If the seat back release feels like it is broken Pop the trunk and look in the middle of the seat backs inside the trunk. There is a slide lock that will unlock the inside lever so you can lower the seat back and remove the headrests.

I came here looking for info on the car since it was in the bay. Since nobody has done it yet here is the info. Anyways It's cake. 3rd brake comes off just like the IS, push to the rear and lift. Roll down shrink easy. The only thing is the front door is just like the IS without the tweeter. I did it without removing the panels.

Anyone pulled these panels? I had the screw off behind the handle and the one under the switch cover, but It wouldn't come off. I got it done, but it was a pain with those tweeters in the way. I'll never do another one of these w/o pulling the panels.

Hello team I am a 10+ mobile hobby tinter (tinted for a few shops as favors and just do it on the side for friends and family) and I have a 2011 RX350 that fought me badly this past weekend. I rescheduled the job because I was using too much tact and did not want to mess anything up. I did not want to remove the panels either. Are their any tips/tricks you can offer to tint this car with ease? Thank you much Ambush P.S. At this time I am using reboxed tint from various companies since I do not have a shop. Are there any reputable places I could order from even I do not have a shop and I do this very part-time?

Straight forward car. Back windows shift a little. Also thick defrost lines use 0000 steel wool to prep. Other than that super easy car.

Just a heads up, 2014 IS250 is completely changed. Looks the same for the most parts but rear window is much wider, but shorter, rear sides are longer. Good thing though.... the POS GS brake light is gone out of the "F" Sport model and speakers are gone off front corners of doors!! Small removable headrests, brake light push to rear to remove. This is now a typical Toyota install, comparable to a Corolla. Wide overlap rubber on sides of roll ups, loose flap on bottom that is easy as hell to tuck. Rear window has a bit more shrink to it than previous model, sides are about the same, but install wise, it is the easiest of all the Lexus cars now. (Just for a future note..…

I did an 04 model today forgot which one but its the one with the real bad defrosters. My prep for this was I sprayed with ammonia and scrubbed the back glass 3 times with steel wool and a scrubbie and run a chizel down all the defrosters. Shrunk the film as smooth and perfect as you could ask for and still got at least 20 big puckers. Very time consuming trying to lay them all down gotta be some way to make it better I was tempted to scrape the damn glass . Any other tricks to make these go smoother?

I've done quite a few Lexus's ranging from 1996 to the newer ones (mainly iS series currently) with no real issues other than peanuts on the early ones. But today in comes this beast and the sweeps were one piece with the side seals, which made tucking or a pull back a problem in the corners. Not only that, but the sweeps were riveted in. We improvised and made it nice but it took some extra time. What other models/years had this problem?

Wow. Front door panels took a few to figure out but easy to get off once I found the last hidden screw behind the pull handle cover. A little tricky to put back on. All the windows are super super sticky. Roll up side channels are really deep as well. Fronts werent bad without the panels and sweeps. Rears were typical. But This car put me to the test, big time. Thoughts? What can be done to make the glass not so damn sticky??? The sides were at least workable but the rear window was ridiculous. Despite the window channels, it wasn't the worst except for the "sticky glass". Any thoughts input would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Removing door panels? 1 2

I read the other IS250 thread below talking about the gizmo malfunction after removing door panels. Have the door panels become that fancy? How many things do you need to disconnect besides the screws? From what I see, there are about 4 screws, and a bunch of clips. No speaker removal, right? Is it easy to damage something?

Anyway, I called the place and they had closed already and aren't open till monday and today is saturday. I was just wondering if anyone has encountered this and if so how is it fixed?

Installed Huper Optik Ceramic 70 on a New Lexus RX350 windshield the other day. Used Ceramic 40 on the 2 front doors, factory rear only. It was a easy shrink in this film and looked very nice.

I had tinted a IS yesterday and was explained that there was trouble with clearance when removing panels off this car, something about the inside door handle. I read that it easly broke when removing the door panels and had thoght about not removing them. the first two I did I never did any thing but rinse the film on both sides rinsing and trash of the film and rolled it in a funnel/cone shade. I unrolled the funnel as I rolled the window up this worked great even with the tweeter in place..... I still wanted to have a little more room to work behind the tweeter and this is how I managed it. I cut a wedge out of mdf and rounded all my edges of the mdf. and wegded it int…
