A tinter in Orlando Tinted a rear window on a 2007 Mercedes Wagon and Mercedes is saying that he used to much water and saturated the GPS module (5,000.00) and wants him to pay for it. It is mounted in the rear hatch area. What does everyone think about this?

Had a guy come back with this one and all four doors had scratch marks that looked just like what happens to 07 mustang doors. So he took it to the dealership and naturally they said it is the tints fault and that they don't make a tint kit is this true?

2007 E350

I'm new here and I have two questions. 1. Is the back glass on a 2007 E350 with factory baby blue tint laminated? If so can it be shrunk just like any other car? 2. Is it safe to put SolarGard HP Charcoal 6 on the back glass without stressing it too much? I've heard that you're not supposed to go darker than 20 on it.

Tint Gone Bad, Radio Reception etc. Advice needed 1 2
by Guest rcorner- 18 replies
- 3.6k views
I had my '00 S500 tinted last Friday with Suntek Infinity Metallic 35% all around. It killed my AM Radio reception. Additionally, there are a few light scratches (guessing from the edge of the squegee) on 2 side windows, a small crease in a rear vent window, a couple of small spots that are not stuck to the rear glass at the bottom edge of the rear windshield. Having said that, none of the flaws can be seen from the outside and the car looks great. My question is the following: Reasonably speaking: 1. Should the installer, who came highly recommended (I paid him the asking price w/o negotiation) have known and informed me about the Radio interference w/rear antenna ? …

I wanted to take pics of it ..but forgot my camera today at home but ..it one bad azz ride I tell ya

I added felt to the back doors on the s550 easily because you don't have to pull the panel to pull the seal out. But I couldn't felt the front windows because the seals don't pull out like the rear doors. How do you pull the front panels without messing up anything? I pull the panels on many cars if necessary, but I am scared to pull these because I'm not trying to come out the pocket by breaking anything. Everything on these cars are expensive!!!!

Hi all, I have a new c-class and want to get my car tinted; but I fear the factory blue-ish color of the glass combined with the tint color will come out looking like . I am turning to all you professionals here for opinions for the right combo for my car. Brand? Series? Grade? In your opinion, what will look the best based on all your experiences with MB factory blue glass?

1996 C230 Kompressor
by Guest pepsi- 4 replies
- 2.1k views
hi, I have searched about door panels and I would like to know if it is necessary to remove the door panels for a 1996 C230 Kompressor Some shops said they don't need to open them up. How will the tint be applied to the bottom of the glass? If they don't apply to the bottom and right where the seal is, that hugs the glass above the panel, wouldn't the tint be easy to peel off when the window goes down? They also said that I would need felt. Is this true?

Hey there, we just received a complaint... a Mercedes C-Class Sportcoupe was tinted with non-reflective / non-metallized Charcoal from SolarGard. After the installation the radio and the keys (remote control) don?t work any more... I?ve heared from another tinter here, who had the same problem by a Sportcoupe. Is it possible, that the rearwindow /antenna is soooooo thin, that the normal cleaning with (stainless-steel) wool damages the antenna???? We never had a similar problem with any other car - but twice THAT problem by a sportcoupe sounds strange....

2006 S Class Door Trim Removal
by Guest Rockabilly- 6 replies

Yeah, I know there's a couple of posts from guys who do these cars without pulling panels. Would be a LOT easier. But, we gotta put felt on the rubber seals. Thanks to Bones from M1 for the instructions. In the first pic, you'll see the front door trim. Screws are shown by the red arrow. Front screw is behind a plastic cover, easy find. Back screw was a secret squirrel. Its hidden behind a felt-lined cover, which blends in with the felt lining in the storage compartment. Slip your olfa in the almost-invisible slot and pry it up, and presto, it reveals the torx screw. There are only 2 screws. The outer edge of the door trim is held on by the normal panel clips…

This car is totally simple. The back glass is very easy to shrink, and you don't have to remove the panels. Just carefully pull back on the top of the panels, and they will slip over the gaskets, then pull up on the felt gaskets to remove. The quarter windows aren't too bad, probably to toughest windows on the whole car (just in cutting though). These are easy, fast money.

2008 S-Class review
by Guest everg- 3 replies

Mercedes will launch the 2008 S-Class at NAIAS, Detroit, in 2007. The new ~$80K cabriolet will be built mainly following comfort, rather than performance. You can read an exclusive review on it on topspeed, with info about the features, mercedes' plans, as well as some of the S-Class history and the competition the 2008 model will have to face. Available is also a high-res photo gallery. "...While preserving the sizes, seating capabilities and easy four-door access of the S-Class saloon, the new open vehicle will offer the pleasure of open-air cruising by featuring the biggest soft-top yet to be produced..." Like to ask people in the know. Has anyone ever tinted the Mercedes 108, not the van mind you. I don't have much experience with old Mercedes. The back glass is almost curved 90 degrees. Would someone please tell me if it is possible to tint the glass using a single piece of film.

I tinted an S 430 with 35% Llumar Jet (a Dyed film). The customer came back 3 hours later and the bottom right corner of the windshield was cracked in two places right next to each other. No evidence of any stone chips on the out side. Anyone ever experience such problems?
