Hiya, Doing a Subaru Forester on Saturday with frameless roll ups and was wondering if people are just heatig the edges of the film where the door makes contact with the gasket/frame near the roof or if taping the seals is necessary? Also, seems like I'm going to have to dry shrink the back glass, what pattern are ya'll using? Horizontal tack running through the middle or "H", if so horizontal tack on "H" on the upper window or lower??? Thanks for any tips or tricks. NOTE: I also plan on removing door panels for giggles.......I've got time! Any issues with this removal?

Got a request for one today. I've never done tinting on any Subbie. How bad are the 99 back windows? Easy like a Fusion or a PITA like the Mazda 6's? dave.

Got a WRX booked not sure if its the "classic" shape of the bug eyed one? Im certain from memory (havent done one for a while) that a 24" roll isnt big enought for the back glass does a 30" cover it or is it over that that needs a 36". I think the 30" covers and not the 24" any help need to order film in the morning and I cant see one on the road to measure!! Cheers Guys!

just finished up the '08 sti. real nice ride. pc. of cake to tint. be careful with yer gun tho...the outer door sills are tender. the rear view mirror has 3 screws. the lower 2 (black) remove mounting hardware from the screen. (silverr one just holds the mirror clasp) be careful after you remove the 2 screws, that big hunk of steel wants to fall and scratch that purty shift knob. lmao...have a good time tinting this one.

Be careful with the new 09 Legacies. The back window is cake, dont worry about taking out the taillight to remove the 4 Wheel Drive sticker, just lay your film right over it and it looks awesome. The customer commented on how it looks so much better now that you can see the sticker. The doors are another issue. Make your that you tuck the film at LEAST 1/3" below the top of the gasket. Originally I tinted it like any other frameless, and put the film right to the top of the gasket, since its frameless it should roll down fine and have no issues right? Not so. All 4 windows started to peel in less than 4 weeks since the gaskets are so tight. I talked to the dealer, …

Well.. so much for the lovely frameless glass. Plus they added a useless quarter glass on the back C pillar as well. Its easy to get to though. The rear deck is all plastic like the Toyota Carolla and Mazda 3 but is tight to the glass and comes up a bit. It makes removing the AWD decal on the inside of the rear glass a royal pain in the arse. The door panels are held on by 4 screws. 1 by the door handle, one in the door pocket/switch plate, and once you pry that up, there are 2 more right there. Theres a lil spot towards the front of the switch plate with a notch to put something in to pry it up. Be careful prying up the door switches/pocket though. Its a sil…

It doesn't does it. That's what I thought too. 1989 Subaru XT6. Kicked my installer's and my azz this afternoon. HE finally got it in one piece (3rd try). I moved on to the Cavalier in the background It's much more of a rap-around than it looks. Top and bottom corners are a biatch. First time in all my years to have this car come in. I've got another one to add to the "double the price" list. :inot And the passenger side wrap around was much worse than the driver's side.

In the unlikely event that one of these rolls into your shop, do yourself a favor and double whatever you think you should charge. 9 windows, of which 4 are stationary, and they have no border to provide a comfort zone. This thing was a b***h...came out nice though.

I usually pull and tuck most of my cars, to save some time. Windows are frameless and wonderful, except for the front. They have an extremly tight rubber gasket by the sideviews. I still pulled it back and tucked it in. To keep the flim tight enough on the glass, to dry solid, I pushed in a popsicle stick on both fronts in the bottom corner. I also threw a small piece of masking tape on the upper right corners to prevent peelback when the doors get shut. Everything came out perfect and I got it done a hell of a lot quicker/easier than taking the doors apart. Has anyone tried a heat gun on the outside of the glass to dry the top edge quicker? Im gonna try that next time. …
