Hi everyone, new poster here. After spending some time on this forum this morning I am hoping to get some advice from such an impressive knowledge base of tinters. I will try to keep it brief, I had the windows tinted on my Echo a couple months ago. They turned out looking great, sadly though they started to scratch immediatly the very first time the windows were rolled down. At this point the drivers side window looks HORRIBLE. There are vertical scratches top to bottom from one side to the other. On day 6 I took it back to the tint shop to ask him what was going on. He said I should take it in to a auto shop and have the panels taken off, gaskets cleaned, look for d…

Hi guys , Tinted the new pasara today and found that they have put an automatic blind in the rear deck which has little nylon wheels that runs firmly against the glass or tint from about 15" down from the top edge of the glass. I have no doubt this will scratch the film and cause warrantys if not noted to the custy. There is a manual switch which can be used to keep it down, if the blind is up it automatically goes down when you hit reverse.

I tinted the rollups on one a few days ago with suntek carbon. Customer called and says the front windows look green. She brought it in and they do have a slight variation in color from the back that I haven't seen before. I do alot of toyota's with carbon and this is new to me. Any thoughts?

Ok so had a 2001 Toyota Solara today. The doors and quarters where a piece of cake. My question arises with the back glass. I kept having difficulties with the lower corners and shrinking. To went down quick and easy with lift and pull....I think this was my first 2 door solara in my 5+ years tinting. Looking at the new Solaras (2007-2008) the back glass looks more flat than the earlier models. Any suggestions on this? I've never had a back glass give me this much trouble ....I tried different anchors and still issues.

i enjoy this site and get alot of useful info from it, so i figure i would share some. i just did a 2013 tundra and the things i noticed were: 1. theres is alot of room around the rear view mirror when doing the top windshield strip. the glass has alot of black area around the mirror for you to overlap 2. the side of the front windows have a slight curve on the sides

2008 Toyota Avalon Quarter Panels are a beast*

I'm a newbie and I've been practicing on my vehicle. I've got the driver and passenger side front and door windows down pretty good, I haven't attempted the rear window yet because my bulldozer hasn't come in yet. No fingers, bubbles and my edges are rounded pretty good using the index finger method. But one thing that I've wasted countless hours on and a lot of film on is with the rear quarter panel glass. It's hard as hell to master but it looks so easy that its driving me insane. The biggest issue has been with the two right angles at the top of the rear quarter glass, they are really small in width and the molding around them sticks up pretty high so I can't get a cle…

Any suggestions on film type, price guidelines, etc? I've never had windows tinted before. This will be my first time getting them done, and I don't want to get ripped off because I don't know much. I live in Massachusetts, and wanna keep it at the legal limit of 35% all the way around so that I can pass inspection and not be bothered by cops. Anyone have any pictures of Solara's with 35% (preferably silver) Here's my ride: http://imgur.com/CZD1PNU

... Highlander, FJ, Lexus LX470 for instance when the back is sorta grey, and the front has the solar green? Llumar ATC 20 is close enough for most but it bugs me a little. I use ATC 15 on most all GM, Dodge, Jeep, and Fords and it usually looks t**s, both color and darkness, but these are hard to get a color match. I've also tried Johnson Renegade 20 and Suntec 18 and 25 and they all have the green or brownish look. ATC 20 is perfect when you hold it next to a back window, until you cover the front that has green built in. Anyone found a really close match? Correction, that's 'Suntek Carbon' 18 and 25

So I had one of these to do today, rear windows were good and quick, the small quarters at the front were ok too. But the two front windows were bi$£%es to do!! I got the passengers side down after three goes, but I couldn't do the drivers side! I shrunk it on the outside but I kept getting a long vertical ripple running from bottom to just above half way, and it;s te type that will crease if you touch it. I don't understand why this happened/happens. Would someone please be kind enough to help me out . And I am no pro tinter, just something I do on the side of my studies. Thanks!

Easy car, but you have a long reach to the bottom of the back glass. The doors are much easier in reguards to how tight the top gasket is on the last model when rolled up, no more pinching. I'm satisfied with the template I sent in too, made for a fast install.

Got one of these to do on Sunday and after the 2010 I did awhile back, I'd like to remove the rear quarter window if it is the same style as the 2010. How do you go about removing these? Remove door panel and that little pillar that separates the two pieces of glass? Is it bolted in after that? Any help or tips would be appreciated.

The '12 Camry's rear window is easier with no peanut problems, but the 3rd brake light is tighter against the glass. The quarters were a non issue, while the roll ups have tighter fits and still shift in their tracks. On the rear roll ups the rear edge of the glass can be felt, so don't add too much length to compensate for the shift or you'll get fingers.

Horrible rear screen.....stop light is in the way and if you get one in be sure to get service department to pull it all apart first. Can't see how it comes out and it's too close to the glass to get anything in behind it....absolute cockhead design. No room in the back either if you are tall and hard to straddle the rear seat....avoid! There are plenty of other vehicles out there without such problems. Devil

just did one today, it could possibly be the easiest new vehicle to tint, but beware, the rubbers are kinda strange, I tucked them, one side completely, the other side it tucked kinda lumpy, not completely tucked but enough to tint it, well when I pulled them up the lumpy side was all screwed up looking, but as it sits it looks like it's going to flatten back out, next time I'll completely tuck the rubbers....
