THE 06 PASSAT 1 2

feel free to move to makes and models WOW I used to h@te tinting PASSATS but NO MORE, this car is now more tinter friendly if you have tinted a 06 JETTA this car is basicly EXACTLY like it but just bigger. The rollups throw a couple fingers, but the side seals are not tight and dont have that rediculious reveal the other car had on the side seals. The Quarter window in snow on the door instead of where it used to be, the quarter window is kinda matrix and rubber seal :gay but with a little rubber trimming its very easy. The backglass has the erd brakelight at the top and nothing to get in your way at the bottom, although it is alittle cramped at the very bottom, I us…

I'm having my 2003 Passat tinted and the place that is doing the job says they can not tint behind the rear brake light on the back window. They are planning on cutting around it. I'm afraid that this is look like a hack job. Can they tint behind the rear brake light and if not, how does it look with the tint cut around the light.

Heyas, today I had to tint a rear screen on a VW Golf Hatchback, had some problems with it, I had about 3-4 goes at it and creased it every time, usually at the bottom corners (I dry shrink btw) , got the most experienced guy at my work thats been tinting for 5 years and he shrunk it first go, creased it still but was outside the dot matrix so we could still tint it, Do u guys have trouble with these rears or got any tips incase I come across another one? I watched the other guy do it and only thing different he seemd to be doing that I wasnt doing it really waving the heatgun around heaps like in quick circles, other than that yeh I think it was just a difficuit back gla…

Dont apply any pressure when rolling the roll ups up becuase the "pinch protection" will stop the window at the top and automatically roll back down and you cant stop it. did a drivers roll up 7 times before asking the customer about it cuz ive never seen that before and couldnt figure it out.

Tinting a 2006 GLI

If any tinters here have any insight on some of these things, please let me know. Cut-and-paste from my posting on vwVortex: The summer heat has me running to the tint shop. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it, but I can't live like this much longer. I had 15%-ish tint on my previous Jetta, but I feel like I've "outgrown" the blackout tint, so to speak. I really, really like the look of the stock blue GLI tint, but it's just not cutting it. For that reason, I'm going to go with a 35% Llumar metallized film. It should be light enough to retain some of the blue tint but dark enough to reduce the cabin temperature somewhat. I've read the metallized vs. ceramic deba…

Has anyone here done a 97 Jetta for a tint I got one next week and have never done a VW before. This car has dot matrix on the side roll down windows and do you have to take the door panels off or can you just pull the door gaskets out to tuck the tint.

I did one of these lastnight...and decided to take the panels off...holy sheit...I have done one of these before...but I dont remember the pops on the bastards being that hard to pop off...im wondering if it wasnt an 06 1/2 with different pops on the panels. I tell you what...if I ever do another one ...the top of the panel is getting pulled and the seal coming out that way.. has anyone else taken the panels off on these cars?

the back glass is tough on this and the interior trim is very difficult to remove...at least the trim around the rear glass....I usually removed it prior to the 06....if anyone has the tip to getting it apart I'd love to know.... it had gps and navigation and both worked after I use an HP char over the back glass...

Cheers in advance

89 VW Jetta - Fuel Pump runs constantly
by Guest KevinF69- 4 replies
- 3.8k views
Hello there! I am writing in regard to my 89 VW Jetta - 4 cylinder/auto. I recently changed the engine in the car and I cannot understand why the fuel pump wants to run non-stop. I've checked the ground wires and they all seem like they are hooked up and making good contact. The fuel pump runs constantly and I have gas running out of the exhaust manifold and some getting through the air lines, which in turn dumps it into the air filter box. I don't know what might be the culprit causing this problem. Any ideas would be extremely helpful. Thanks a lot! Kevin

Phaeton
by Guest Supertinter- 1 reply

I've done about 10 Phaetons, if anyone needs any tips. These things are wild, the rear headrests automatically rise up when the rear pass doors are open. So you have to close the doors behind you when you climb in, then...the seats are pressure sensitive and will pop the headrests back up if you step in the wrong spot on the seat. The side windows are a nightmare but get easier with practice. Anyone else have any comments on these?

had a customer come in saturday with a vw phaeton..I was def not in the mood for that car..I looked at it and it looked like a tough one,,,rear window is obstructed by headrests that dont come out,,brake light in the way and side windows as tight as a clams ass,,,any info on these cars yet?

dead phaeton 1 2
by Guest snap- 14 replies

do you have to keep the phaeton running while working on it? for those who dont know, the car has two batteries, one for primary operations, and one for peripherals. the batteries in the boot is what you want to connect a shop grade battery charger to. this way your power windows wont die on you and the car doesnt have to be running.

New Jetta - Rear Deck
by Guest clneal- 4 replies
- 2.7k views
I've seen the deck removal pics on the older Jettas, and the new Jetta seems similar. I can't see how the child seat tie down anchors are attached. They seem to be threaded into the metal under the deck, but there isn't an obvious bolt head. The anchor cutout in the deck is rectangular, so it doesn't want to turn. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Clyde

Dear Guys, I have joined newly to this forum. I own a VW Bora V5 model 99. I had a problem with my cooling system (there was a leak), so I went to the mechanic and he found that the distributor is broken and needs replacement. In order for him to replace it, he removed the car battery so that he can reach it. After finishing his work, I started the car and soon the A/C as we have a very hot weather her in Kuwait were I live. Soon enough I discovered that the compressor is not functioning. We went to an electrician and he said that because you disconnected the battery, we have to reprogram the car again, and he hooked a Blue piece of electronic equipment to an electric p…

Hide the chrome without roughup and paint?
by Guest Paldi- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
Hello gurus! Here is a request to hide some chrome trim but allow it to be restored some time in the future whenever the cars is sold. The idea is to cover the chrome with a "tape stripe" of some sort - like a window tint but outside. Many Phaetons are black as is the one I used for my illustration - but mine is a very dark blue, so I need BLUE FILM. Can it be done? Is there a source for the material? Is it difficult to accomplish? BEFORE AFTER (that's the plan anyway)

Hello everyone, I did my first bug today and although the quarter glass was pretty easy the back was bad! We tried to due one piece shrink but could not pull it off. We ended up doing it two piece and it came out really nice. Can anyone out there due it one piece?? Did you shrink it wet or dry? Also how hard due you think a 94 Chrysler SHT (I think thats the model?) is? Man that car was a pain. Had big trouble with the back glass even though it was only about 18inches tall it was rough! Let me know what you guys think. Blade can you email me I have a question about your custom work... Thanks all1

I just realized you dont have to take the door panels off......I rolled the window down grabbed the top of the plastic panel and just pulled up and the top of the panel came loose and pulled back far enough to simply grab the seal and remove it, I couldnt believe how many I have dont and didnt try this after I tinted it I pulled the top back and put the channel back in, now you have to get the top of the panel back over the channel, I rolled the window back down then pryed it back over the channel.
