Anything special to pay attention as far as electronics or is the windshield on the XC90 pretty much straight forward?

Been lurking here a long time but have never posted.... Just did the new Polestar 2. Very easy car. I don’t pull panels, the bottom trim is not tight, sides have lots of room but are a but deep. No quarter windows which is always a bonus. Back window brake light is not covered, lots of room, has little curve and is a hatchback. Weird part was waking up the car to make the power windows work. Like a Tesla no start button, you just need the key fob in the car, sit on the drivers seat and it powers up. But when you get out after a few seconds it shuts down. After some experimenting I found if you open the door, sit down and then whi…

Did three of these bad boys and they're pretty easy money. Other than being nasty all but two sliding windows have black borders. Windshield is three pieces with a silicone bead separating them. Couple of pics I snapped from the inside and out below. Also it has a window latch that's just two t20 screws

Removal of door panel on this new model added to Volvo. There are 5 screw. 4 are expose and 1 hidden beside door handle. DO NO PULL ON THE DOOR. When all screw are remove, pull up like a Ford F series. Very easy suv to tint when all of this is remove. It only take about 1-2 min per panel for removal.

Hi folks, Just working the all new XC60, any clues for taking off the front door panels? There a bit like the new XC90 but seams like theres another hidden screw somewhere. One screw behind the rubber in grab handle, one screw at bottom of door panel. Have tried to take off plastic around the pull handle but it dosent come easy, seams to easy to brake. Cheers

Hey All, Just got a call about one of these. It's a all window job, should I run or is it straight forward job. Can a 20" roll work for these windows?
-
Had one in today, not really sure what year model. Sweeps come out by just pulling back on the top of the panel. It has the black clips so it will make a popping noise when it comes loose. Fronts were no problem, thick felt so tape is needed. Rear is a different story. Super tight seals and film wanted to keep binding up with the tape on them. Of course the window doesn't roll all the way down. What I found was to pull the seal back some, to the top of the panel. This will allow you to tape the felt entirely. Minus the rear roll car was really easy. Heavy slip is a must for this one though.

Just finished the new C30 2dr. Neat litlle car. The doors are pretty tight and need alot of shrinking. The long quarter glass is easy. The rear glass was a little tricky cuz of the shape and rear wiper. Besides that fairly easy car. I will try and post some pics soon.

The rear roll ups were such a pain. They had seals that surround the sides and top, similar to the Chevy impala. Anyone know if theses are removable... I tried but they didn't seem to be.

Any tips for this panel puller? When the side seals are tight I prefer to take the bottoms out. Last Volvo I did was old skool, I don't remember it being a problem. Is this gen a snap with the panels on/ or can you pull back the tops and out she comes? I looked through this forum and on some it's hard to tell what generations have been noted.

easy car ,trims will pop back at the top and sweep comes out, however you can remove 2 screws (front doors) 3 (rear doors) and take the trim right off makes it even easier! And rear screen needs 31" ,30" just doesnt make the top off the dots in the top corners.

Nice to install....back rear tailgate glass requires one big heat shrink but is achievable. Simple door trim removal... just 2 screws per door and pulls straight out and has an internal weatherstrip the same as current BMW's. devil

Not sure how many Volvos are set up this way, don't get too many 'round here. But on this one the tops of the panels had some flimsy clips holding it onto the metal, was able to lightly pull up and back on the top of the panel to allow some room to drop the film in, then a lift and push and it popped right back into place. Was as easy as it can get, and no problem with contamination and trapped h20.

Rear glass meters 12%! Dark... front sweeps come right out, still really tight sides. Glass out is prob the best for some of these

anything I should know about the S60 before I start to tint one? I did notice the felt on the inside of the glass, so I may just have to tape that felt up.

Just looking for a quick reply on how to release the headrests, so they tilt down. Did a quick search, and didn't come up with any results...also looked for a button in the front, and couldn't find one. Thanks! Ryan EDIT: Nevermind! Found it...didn't look hard enough. The button I thought would be it, was it...for some reason it just wasn't releasing, until I started the car. Problem solved!

1995 850

I've got a 1995 850 with the original tint that is now 16 years old. Recently all of it turned bright purple and started flaking off, when I took it to a local tinting place they told me that removing the old tint from the rear window would destroy the rear defroster and that there is no way to fix/replace the rear defroster. My question to you guys is if there is a way to replace the rear defroster or repair it or perhaps work around it, because this tint is really starting to look weird but I really don't want to lose the defroster. Thanks.

Okay so I was in a pretty bad wreck a few weeks ago and hurt my shoulder so I have not been able to Tint. I had a buddy call me wanting his front windows 2006 Tinted on his Volvo Xc90, so I figured what the heck its will be quick and easy. I opened a new box of Llumar ATC and off I went...four pieces later I can't seem to figure out the Drivers side window. I keep getting a finger at the top and two on the bottom...I try shrinking the film and it still did'nt come out right. I even pulled the panel and gasket thinking I was not doing something right. I have been tinting for 3 years and have never had this hard of a time on a side window. Could I have a bad roll of film? B…

Ceramic tint job still splotchy 1 2
by Guest robbinspdx- 14 replies

We had our new Volvo's windows tinted last Thursday (5 days ago). Most of the windows have dried but the splotches on one window have not gone away. They are essentially unchanged in number and character. How much more time should we give the tint to cure before going back to the shop for a redo? Is the tint applied on the inside or outside? Thanks

Nice ride. easy to tint. I just tucked the seals. they tucked and untucked nice. I didn't feel like messin with the panels after doing the clearshield on it. the clearshield hood piece was one of the most difficult hoods I've done. and it didn't help it was on black paint. I also did the company logos on it.

Just done one today very easy car.No need to pull panals just pop top an take gasket out no other problems to write about.

2008 S40 later this week. I'm guessing it should be pretty much the same as an 05? I seen something about laminate windows? I have not run in to this yet. What do I need to know?

I see that other models people say to remove the panels, but I didn't see any modles in the early 00's. So im wondering if I can tint it w/ the panles or if this is one you really just want to pull the panels. thanx everyone.

HI GUYS; SO I TINTED A S60 YESTERDAY REAR WINDOW EASY I WISH ALL REAR WINDOWS WERE THAT WAY. SIDE WINDOWS SUCK THOUGH. what is it with these roll up windows? some dont move, some go down and dont go back up, I mean it's always something with these cars!!
-
had 1 about a month ago & things did not go well. I know the back glass was cake and I think I got the rear rolldowns fine but I couldn't get those fronts! Couldn't slide the film back behind those tight azz seals and it had a long way to travel. No idea how to pop panels. Had to send her off while I tried to research the panels, she ended up with a free 3/4 tint job! Lesson learned there. So I have another coming Saturday and I'm not looking forward to it. Any help you all can offer would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post. thanks
