Tint over Tint

I got a call from a customer who wants me to put 5% tint on his truck, that already has 5% on it. He said he wants to be able to smash his face up against the window and have nobody be able to see him from the outside. Has anyone done this before. Is it even possible, and will it come out nice?

I've layered tint before. It's not easy to stick a piece of tint to tint already on a window. I'd prefer to stick the tint together, then apply both pieces as one. BTW, 5% of 5% is insane. If you do it, you WILL be ridiculed and harassed by every law-abiding window tinter who calls td.com their home. I think you suck for even THINKING about doing something this retarded.

I've done it several times. Just layer it and call it good. I'm one of those law-abiding azzholes that wndo is talking about but if it's a truck and you're doing it on the back it's all good. It would be stupid on the doors though. My last 4 trucks I've had 5% on 5% on the rear windows. I got used to it.

Yeah dude, dont do it on the front windows. What happens if this guy takes a corner at night and doesnt see somebody walking across the street, its gonna be YOUR problem!

I have 20% over 5% on my rig, and its PLENTY!, you can't see anything in my rig...I would suggest to tell him that you'll do 20 over 5, which is a about 1.5% net......bet ya he'll like that idea better.

I got 35 over 35. Not dark enough. About to rip it off.

Anyways...it works best if you trim the first layer a little smaller. This way the 2nd layer goes over it and sticks to the glass. That's the best way.

Tint doesn't stick to tint as well as it does to glass. So if you have 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the top layer touching the glass it will hold a lot better.

I have 5% over 20%. I like it but there are times that it can be difficult to see out at night. 5% on 5% is nutz.
