Im having problems clearcoating with nason 498 and the wierd thing is I tried a test panel without activator and it looked perfect. I have a new Devillbiss Finishline 3 and it lays down basecoat great. Tonight I've tried high pressure, low pressure, 1.5 tip, 1.3 tip, less fluid, more pressure but I'm not getting that look I did with no activator of the medium temp 483-78. I have a new 3/8 Goodyear 25' hose, new craftsman filter/regulator, 80gl Sanborn compressor recently drained and I got orange peel from the clear. I'm going to try some single stage soon cause I got it to lay down great after some trial and error with a Harbor frieght gun. There has to be something we are missing that proffesional painters know and are not telling us. Please someone useing a Divillbiss Finishline 3 spraying nason 498 clear let me in on the secret. should I thin it with the same reducer used in the base coat?
