How do you make patterns for matrix vinyl?

I've always used glue on matrix, just wondering how to make a good pattern with vinyl??

scrap liner....cut it on the outside....use it as a template for cutting the vinyl.

..and a litle tip..if you go to the dollar store ...for $1 you can buy a drying carousel which has enough clips to hold and separate most any template you'll ever come across. Just label them with masking tape

No harm in trying ..as long as the tinters that DON'T use vinyl can control themselves from trashing the thread
