Guest pmuzik
don't believe there is one with the same spec, there are other multi layer or laminated films but not as many layers as the 3m ultra series
GLASSPROTECT
I know about the multilayers . But in my opinion a 8 mil safety has the same impact resistance as he 4 mil from 3m
Tinitman
You need to look at the numbers on the spec cards. I have no clue what the competiton's numbers are
blade
As much as I hate to say it, I really don't think there is a film that has the same specs as the Ultra series.
TINT
they never are, every company is different. just price it with using 3m and then price using "other'" company.
GLASSPROTECT
I like to know ,if the film is so good Why donot advertise the hell with this product and beat all comp. They must have tested this film ,but I donot know where to find this. Any 3 m dealers can help me ???
blade
Why donot advertise the hell with this product and beat all comp. because of the household name...no need to. last week we did a job in the ultra 400. I gave a bid on installing that and a security film from a different manufacturer...they didn't care how much the bid difference was, they wanted the household name brand. even after I said, "if it were my store I would install this other one." V4V
4 ML Ultra Films actually perform as well as 11 ML polyester films- -FYI. 28 micro-layers per 4 ML -39 layers for Ulta 600 3MGuy

I know that during some of the blast testing, the 3m product failed miserably compared to competitors 3 ply 8mil. Look for a product that meets their needs. If they want 40 layers of .001u polyester, give em 3m. If they want to save their wallet and know what performance they need, sell them something else. NOT ALL FILMS ARE TESTED. Each film performs better under different circumstances. the load, lenght of exposure, amount of pressure, chaneling, glass type, frame type, anchoring method. If you are quoting 4mil, I guess they don't need it for blasts? Are you anchoring it? If not, give em the name that makes them sleep better at night. If they want performance, give em the stuff that the big boys use. Just because it is tested, does not mean it is good
