heat shrinking Llu ATR film

I normally use the standard dyed suntek film and have had great results with it. We dont need to worry about fading as we get about 10 mins sun a year here.

I can shrink this film really easily and quickly, even the most curved windows dont cause a problem.

I am also trying some Llu ATR and have beeen having a hell of a job getting it to shrink. I did a 3 series BMW today and after I had shrank it I had a big smiley face in the film and when wet checking it - it was all over the place. I binned it and had a re-think...I have trashed a few back windows with this film so far and have had to use my other brand to get me out of a few situations!

I then discovered the way I need to shrink this film, it seems that it needs a lot of smoothing in the shrinking process by a gloved hand. When done this way the film conformed to the glass tightly and looked like it had been hard carded down, I was just using my hand to smooth it down and this seemed to make it lay down nice whilst giving it gentle heat..

I was too used to the suntek film shrinking laying down quick with little or no smoothing by hand.

I feel I have achieved something now and can move on...

Are there any ATR users out there who can confirm I am getting it right...how do you do yours??

Do any of you use a hard card when shrinking?? - I have found that I end with creases if I do.

By the way...I am a powder shrinker.

Does ATR work well with a wet/MDOG soap shrink??

Thanks

Naughty

we wet shrink, when we use to use atr, didnt get any problems, maybe its becuase your use to powder shrinking, and if im not mistaken, atr is a bit thicker film, so maybe its that. but no complaints here. :bat

been using atr last 5 yrs. also use yellow diamond to shrink. try NOT starting so high up on the film (go closer to the edge) & swirl the heat gun around a greater area. when using a hard card only hit about 1/2 the fingers down, go along half the bottom (from end to middle) than come back & hit the other half of the fingers down. repeat on top of window, than repeat on other side of car. got that!! kinda hard to understand w/out showing ,but keep playing around w/ it you'll get it eventually I also use bb powder but on harder b.g. I use fabric softener sheet.

ATR rocks IMO ...the average back window shrink in under 3 minutes for me using either powder or soap . :bat I use 2 heatguns strapped together and a white scrubbie as my "hardcard" to smooth it out ..lays out real sweet :bat

Been dry shrinking with the soap- H pattern method using gloves to 'check' the shrink.

Very little problems, use only ATR LLu.

Smileys do not seem to make much difference on the install,

if they are not too large.

Shrink in horizontal lines across the glass, not running up or down the fingers,... always across horizontal. Run the fingers up or down patiently, Across!

Works for me!
