I received some film from them today and on the box lid was a statement saying their films had "anti-static technology."

What a fantastic development to make tinters' lives easier.

I've often been concerned with the generated static electricity that occurs when handling solar control films . If it can stand the hair up on end, then it must also attract dust in the atmosphere. Is this a feature unique to Global so far?

They also mentioned on another part of the lid that their film had "super shrink."

From what I know about marketing I give you the translation: Anti-static-technology written on the box means: "We have a severe problem with static."

Super shrink means : "Our films don't shrink as good as others."

As always, I could be wrong. People are sometimes shocked how cynical I can be, especially when they find out how true those statements are many times.

What it means is that Global has done something to minimise electrical buildup which is a common trait to all films as far as I'm aware regardless of make.

Super S means no doubt that it is easy to heat shrink. I don't think there is anything sinister to read between the lines there K.

Unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity to test it as the box was used to only transport some pre-cut decorative vinyl film for a job.

It's common practice (and has been for years) for many manufacturer's to maintain static bars on their machinery. These bars are there to eliminate or neutralize static build up as the film passes over the rollers and through the machines.

Like Kohler said, maybe there's a problem up to the point of the new box printing. And maybe it's news (and new) to one who hasn't used static bars during production.

Not much can be done for some films that generate a greater amount of static than others... clear safety films come to mind.

The distributor in my area told me about this feature, too. I believe it's real, however, I don't think it's all that big a deal.

I always spray my film before and during the peeling process when doing auto tint, so I don't think static is a problem...

I had some samples of this stuff. when you peel the liner off the tint there is not much resistance at all, its kinda cool.
