Using glasscapes in a sunroom

I have someone who would like the most privacy and still be able to see out. So I was thinking about using glasscapes. I have talked to someone about residential applications and it's possible but I'm not sure about how it would look on a large scale with being able to see in. With the lights on inside the room, you shouldn't be able to see in? :thumb Anyone tried this or think it could work or not?

I had emailed someone from glasscapes a few months ago about starting residential applications, he said if enough demand is met then they could start a market for it. But for now they do have custom made sizes and graphics. I'll have to try it out soon..at least I can get rid of my ugly mini blinds :thumb

I think that for most applications, that would be a terrible way to go.

If light travels one way, it goes both, so the privacy accomplished by a glasscape would be the same as film... good during the day, nonexistent at night. Plus, if you put it on the outside, whenever it rains the people wouldn't be able to see out of their windows.

There's a group in the Midwest that has come up with a similar product sealed in clear film so the rain does not clog the tiny holes in the original material. Check with 44tools.com, they can get them for you.

My concern using these instead of film would be more along the lines of thermal shock than anything else. Would have to have tests run to determine solar absorption and its effect on the glass it gets mounted to. :thumb

Good piont. Would a color or design make much difference or would it be the film itself? There tempered dual pane windows..if that makes a difference.

Tempered will be fine... both panes are tempered, right?

Tempered glass has been subjected to almost 1200 degrees F., you can paint it black and still not have it reach a temperature on any summer day hot enough to threaten glass integrity.
