tinted this 2000 accord yesterday. all windows in suntek carbon 35%. my lowest line that I carry. therefore, the cheapest.

I still do my usual install, just minus filing the doors. they want that, they have to move up to my other lines.

when I was doing the driver's door, I managed to get a small scratch, about an inch long, in the top left corner. (that's possible since this car is 6 years old and has 137,000 miles on it)

since it's not visible from the outside, I wondered if I could put it past the customer. (not something I do) but since it was my cheapest film, the car is not exactly in pristine shape, and other tinters get away with ALOT more shiat than that, I thought I'd give it a go.

you can't see the scartch in the pic, but it's there, in between the electric lines in the background.

Just out of curiosity, why do you file only on some types of films and not others? Just because they don't want to pay the extra? We file no matter what film chosen, just because we want the quality of install the best it can be, no matter what price is paid. Our philosophy is that all our work speaks about us, even the people who choose junk film still will buy other cars and they still have friends. I know our markets are very different, and we probably get a bit more out of a vehicle, so I'm sure that should come into play. However, I don't get not doing a signature job, just because someone doesn't want to pay as much. It's kinda like the old saying if its worth doing....Not trying to pick a fight with you (heck, I know I'd loose!) just wondering why you do it that way?

I'd bet you got away with it. But, I'm lost, it sounds like the scratch was on the driver's door from your post, but you show a pic of the rear glass. Driver's door or rear glass, which one?

because that's something no one in my area offers. and I'm not willing to file windows on a $125 tint job. I hate offering this film as it is, so the filing is an incentive to get them to move up. which 90% of my customers do.

as far as the rest of the install, I don't do anything different.

I guess at that price, I'd probably say no file either, but I don't know, kinda a pride thing here. I'd get almost double of the $150 for that with the same type of film.

that's not the rear glass. notice I said "the electric lines in the background". I was trying to get it to where you could see the scratch.

Texas must suck! I'll stay in Oregon. Hardly worth the effort of tinting for that price. I charge $100 just for a set of doors in suntek film. (I give you advanced permission to edit out the price if you like!)
