removing third brake lights

When I was removing the third brake light on a 2004 Accord yesterday, I was having a hard time trying to push the light from inside the car , so what I found worked better was I opened the trunk, went inside, and looked under the light and found the clips that go down into the trunk and pushed up on those clips and the light poped right up!. I found this easier then trying to push on the light case from inside the car. Maybe this will be easier for some of us and maybe not for some. Just my opinion.

No I never cut out the light. Customers don't like the way it looks and I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for the light having tint covering it. Not to say it's not !llegal.

The Acura TL 3rd brake light is the same way.

That's the way I do'em all. I have given all a choice and no one wants it cut out around here.

I saw a Taurus from NY that had it done, it was done well, but still looked bad. To my eyes at least. :DD

I'm starting to see why you have the name you do, "tint4less". it's very obvious that you do tint for less---ALOT less.

The 3rd brakelight thread again :DD

OK, here's my take on it:

A tinted back window will always look better FULLY tinted rather than a cut out of a brakelight with a few exceptions where there is a black border around the brakelight perimeter (eg. older style Jetta, Toyota Matrix, etc)

Perhaps it's !llegal in some States(I can't speak for thier laws) but knowing that the light shines through the tint and you can see the brakelight when you step on the brakes , is good enough for me..and I've been sinting since the 3rd brakelight has been around...and have never once heard of a customer so much as hearing a "peep" out of an officer of the law over it.

I think of these excuses as a way to get out of the extra work needed on some cars to remove the light (lets face it, some lights take 2 seconds to remove...others require hauling out the seats, deck, side panel,etc.0

The solution it easy for the more complex brakelight:

"Sir/madam I have 2 prices for you $ X for cut around or $ Y for complete tint of back window" (more often than not they will spend the extra $ to get it done in a more visual disirable fashion AND they appreciate they at least had a choice AND you get paid for the extra greif AND they happy to bay a bit more knowing why and see where the extra $ went.)
