Why posts get deleted

Sometimes the moderators and I delete posts for the good of the board and to keep the peace.

When a thread degenerates into name calling, it becomes useless and hurts the site by discouraging other people from participating - no one wants to come here just to be ridiculed when they need advice, so leaving threads like that up is not a good idea.

Unmoderated forums are a joke, if you have ever seen one, you know this is true. They are filled with nothing but people insulting each other and virtually no useful information.

Ethnic slurs, calling others "hacks", trolling, defamation etc get pulled.

Many people get heated from others trying to make themselves seem superior by insulting them so the thread degenerates even more.

We've always had a good time on the board by cracking jokes etc, and that is not a problem, but the insulting posts are causing a problem.

Many of the things said could be worded with a little more tact and politeness and still get the point across without all the hostility problems.

A lot of members have stopped posting here precisely because of this problem, so let's try to be a little more tactful in our posts if possible
