Tinting...it can be so frustrating

I dont know how I keep my cool sometimes with this job!!

I tinted a car today and as always I want to better myself. I decided to tuck the rubbers on this car and this saved me a lot of time, most people pull panels in the UK so I am on a quest to get jobs outta the door quicker, whilst still retaining quality and cleanliness!!

I was doing a final quality check before the customer collected and noticed some nice contamination on one of the back doors near the window seal.

I decided today that I would not tape up the felt, but on flushing out the bottom portion of the glass I must have washed some felt out..and hence I had some dots when it dried.

I heated the dots and knocked them down with a chizler, but lesson learned...I should always tape of felt.

I take the 3-M white pad and scrub the heck out of the felt or rubber gaskets during prep. During application, I always squeegee toward the most critical (highest contamination source), first, flushing as much water/solution out of that edge of the film first. This has taken care of nearly all of my contamination issues, minus the tiny fruit-fly bug that flew into the top of a roll-down I was doing last week! That one came out after application with my fingernail though.

Been taping felt since that 1984 Cougar did what you speak of and the only time I have ever regretted the change in tactic is when I forget to tape or I deliberately chose not to. :evilgrin

I had a thought today, I use a pressure spray, I wonder if I switched to a regular spray bottle for flushing out bottom of the glass, this would lead to less contamination being washed out??

Tape it!
