Well Hmm? my truck had some stupid design on the side of it when I got it..It had to go! :spit

So I took a little bit a heat to it with my heat gun..(very little not to much)

Then I slowly started peeling them off (slow so they don't break)

Then I got some "Prep All" you can get it at your local auto paint store.

Put some of that on a cotton rag and wipe off the glue if any? :spit

Of course you won't need to buff it out since your fixing a crack?

Dunno if this will help but it worked for me :spit

O and as far as replacing them? Got any sign stores in your area?

Thay will sometimes cut you some?

Atleast thats where I get all my Vynil graphics..

:spit

yea I agree a heat gun works. some times if the vinyl is really old and has deteriorated then heat doesn't really work that well. I have used what I call an "air erasor" not sure what it is really called. all it is, is a device that plugs into an air hose that has a rubber wheel that removes the vinyl. not sure how well it will work on fiberglass though. use it all the time on metal.

I'll check and see what the real name of it is.
