any of you guys or gals add in mileage for out of town jobs or estimates? got a minimum for mileage adding? is there an average for mileage cost? ive heard the typical mileage cost is $.85/ mile. thanks for the input!

never done that my friend. some shops have a minimum charge to go out and do estimates, and some do charge extra for traveling somewhat far to do a job...but I've never done that.. I charge accordingly

I never have . I think it depends on the area your from too though so I can only speak for my area and what works .

If it's a small job(you've figured this out over the phone), you go measure it when you could actually do the job then and there for a "then and there price discount " or say you'll charge XX more because of the return trip .

If it's a larger job I still say no because the profit should more than compensate for trip charge...but it's a yes if you know it going to turn into one of those "you are one of three estimators coming and it's going to the cheapest guys call"...then I'll charge

I charge mileage for anything over 20 miles out of town. As far as the est goes I dont charge for them but the sq ft price also will reflect for that.
