:thumb Please do not respond if you have not used or know/heard about the Master XY-380P 32" cutter or similar "Master" cutters. I know how well Rolands and Graphtecs and etc etc work with window film and ppf and am sure you are very happy with your Camm-1 or Panther.

I have read a few posts saying that "Master" cutters are great for vinyl only. I have recently purchased one to add vinyl graphics to my business and also to cut signs for myself. I was hoping it would cut ppf and tint as a bonus, but that's not the reason I bought it. I bought it for the price. I have a butt load of vinyl graphics to add to a few of my vehicles and signs and the quote from the sign company to do it for me made me decide to just buy a cutter and do it myself.

My questions:

1. What problems does it have cutting PPF?

2. What problems does it encounter cutting Tint?

If you have used "Master" for anything including vinyl I would like your input on this machine. Thx!

I don't ever plan on pushing a button to have my window patterns cut out, but being able to push a button and have a logo cut out perfectly would be great.

I promise to never give up my Olfa.

I feal bad that no one is responding to you.

so here is an Idea from some one who has used several different plotters not just rollands or graphtec :barf

but if you want a responce from only master users dont read on.

you need to experiment, the blade needs to be out longer for PPF then vinyl because the material is thicker. and less blade for tint then vinyl. granted its a very small adjustment.

also the down force is going to be higher for ppf then vinyl and vinyl more then tint

I assume you know how to cut vinyl, so take the same thoughts when your setting up for different size vinyl and use it for ppf and tint.

the other thing you might try is using 45 degree blades for tint, and 60 degree for vinyl and ppf.

if your company dosnt have a 45 blade ask for the same blade recomended for chrome and reflective vinyls. :heh

if you read this far I hope it helps. if not :DD

Thanks for the response!  The cutter description says it does in fact cut PPF and window tint so I'm sure it will, but I read a post that said they aren't good for it.  Thanks for the info.  Will check back here once I get it set up to review your comment.  Thanks for the info on my other thread as well.  Still new to this whole cutter thing.

Just bought 30, 45, and 60 degree blades. Not sure what blade came with it, but I didn't find the happy medium to cut tint. It either cuts through the film and protective layer or not all the way through the film to the protective layer. Still messin with it.

What would a 30deg blades be used for?

Also, is there a company out there that sells PPF and gives you access to their patterns per the amount of film you buy? Lets say I bought 6' of film so they would let me have access to 1 patern. I thought I heard of something like that.

One more thing, do the pinch roller scare the film on most cutters? Is there a trick to get buy it?

I have had a Master XY380P for over a year. So. Yes its great for vinyl. The reason u cant use it for PPF is that none of the companies have software that works with the maste. It runs only on the supplied software (flexisign or winPCletter) so.... Most eitehr need to program a driver into the software, or Deay needs to make a windows driver (THEY NEVER WILL, I HAVE BEEN BUGGING THEM). So use it for stuff you draw up , and thats about it. Thats why it only costs $900.....
