Dot matrix on side windows?

Ive tried to search and found that most people either glue or vinyl the strip along the top of the rear window. Some people do other things, but the easiest and safest ways are those two. Most also recommend not doing vinyl around the sides or bottom of the window. Anyway, I have a black Volvo V70 (wagon) and the 2 rear side windows have the dots the whole way around. I talked to a tinter in my area (Lancaster, PA) and he seems reputable and knowledgable (posts here). Not many options in the area anyway. He says he usually just lets them go and if it bubbles it bubbles, but will vinyl if I really want him to, he doesn't glue. How will vinyl look around the side windows where they're much more visible than the top of the rear window? With a black car it will look HORRIBLE if I get that silver line around the whole window, they're huge. I'd rather not tint the car than have those ghetto lines around the windows. Basically I need to know how it'll look from the inside and outside if he vinyls around the whole window.

I leave them alone also. I don't glue or vinyl side windows.

The film isn't actually bubbling up. It just sticking to the black dots that are keeping it from touching the glass. It is going to be hard for the tinter in your area to show you how it is going to look without actually doing the job. Then if you don't like it, his time was just wasted. That has happened to me quite a few times.

If I was in this situation I would explain to you as best as I could how it would look and even try to show you a similar window on a car in the parking lot. But in the end you would make the final decision.

That's the thing that's kept me from getting any of my cars tinted. You never know how it's going to look. I guess I just need to take the plunge. I thnk the vinyl will look ok from the outside, but since the windows are much more visible from the inside I'm worried about how the vinyl will look from the passengers point of view.

I had the same feeling as you...well, start using glue! cause it does the wonder! on all bmw's, I glue the edges all the way around of the back screen and the rear sides. works excellent. not 1 dot! a car look alot different with these dots not bieng there tinted.

A tinter can only do so much with the way the glass is made. You can glue it, vinyl it or leave it alone. The customer has to make the decision on what he likes.

If the customer wants it a certain way, he has to be prepared to pay for it.

You must remember that the car, the owner, the tinter, the tint and everything else in this world IS NOT PERFECT.
