Film Handler brake screw

:uh Hi all

I need some help on a replacement part for the film handler. I have the 72? film handler and the brake screw has worn out completely. This is the screw that goes into the film roller assembly.

Two questions ? firstly, is there supposed to be a brake screw on either assembly? My machine only came with one. Secondly, where can I get these screws from? I checked out www.filmhandler.com and they only sell the repair kit for $15. That means I would have to spend $30 plus shipping for two screws. If they wear out that quickly there must be a place that you can buy quite a few from for a lot less?

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Go to the home depot and go to the speciality screw/faseners section and buy a screw. If they don't have a pointed screw, buy a file from the hardware section. The origional has a teflon/nylon tip to prevent gouging the wheel, but a regular screw should do it until you et the green to buy the $30 repair kit.

IMO

Honestly......

If $30 for equipment maintenance and backup parts is killing ya..... I would raise my prices $.10 sf and in 300sf, you will have covered the cost.

Yeah, I wouldn't go to Home depot though. I would suggest going to the mom n' pop store. Home Depot doesn't carry that size and I don't think Lowes does either.

Ace hardware has a good selection of nuts, bolts, and screws, even hard to find items. Just bring in your old srcews and a sales associate should be able to help find them.

Here is a quick fix for you, just cut a piece of cardboard from your film box and shove it between the roller and the arm it attaches to. It will give enough friction to prevent the film from rolling off the film handler.

Though I hate to F'in say it, Solar Gard bought out film handler tools a few years ago, so contact your local Solar gard fil dealer and ask to get a catalogue to order the part
