Flat Glass Commission

I am working in a shop that has no prior tint experience and I am the only one that tints here. I am currently doing a small project at a home. This is my first flat glass job since being here and I was wondering how I should ask to be paid for this. I am currently on a commission basis with cars and I get 50%. Can someone tell me what is fair? Thank you for your time and input.

We dont install flat glass at my store, just dont have the crew for it. I did however have aguy come in from another shop in town and ask about heading up a flat glass division, he wanted $1 a sq. I ask what he was making at his current job he told me $.50 sq, hes been with that company for 6 years says they treat him good.Told him I would think about it, he says if I give him a $1 a sq he would be out of his current workplace in a flash. :thumb

You know how many times I have seen this NOT work? :thumb

6 years and only .50 a square ft means he is either a really poor installer or he does not know enough to ask for more money. Also installers are not necessarily good managers. You can get buried by a guy that thinks he knows how to run a flat glass business.
