I wanted to know how do properly install the dow 996 on to the frame and the safety film. I tape up the inside of the window with some blue painters tape and leave 3/4 to 1/4 of and inch margin between the frame and the outside edge of the painters tape. Then I lay down a bead of 996 and after I scrap the excess with a flat plastic tool that I some what created, so I looks uniformed and neat and it pads the chauking into the frame. After I peel the tape that causes the chuaking which over flowed onto the tape come out in a nice striaght line. The only thing with this technique is that it take FOREVER to do. I waste an entire day. Do I need other tools? Am I doing it right? Other there other techniques? Any thing would help.

Thanks a Mil in advance :spit

go to office depot and get one of those ( I cant think of the name of those pencils but there is a string inside it and you peel off a layer to expose the wax) I think its called a wax pencil but im not sure. Any way take 2 AA batteries and tape them to the pencil and you have your tool so you know where to make you marks and tape the window and the frame. Just slide the batteries along the frame and make marks on the window every 6 inches or so and then do the same on the window to make marks on the frame. I also created my own trowl tool out of a black 5 way. I still have not mastered installing the 995 but have gotten better at it, it just takes practice.

Is there any way of working faster. What I mean, is there any way to install the attachment system faster. like maybe a tape dispenser to tape up the window?

tape dispenser might work but you still need to have the right gap from the frame and from the window. I HATE wetglazing, its is the most aggervating and messing process IMO. I would rather do a 4 sided Framegard installation.

Darn, I was hoping one of you whizes knew of some secret technique to that would make the intallation faster. I tried a tape dispenser but it causes more headaches than anything. I was wondering is there a way to place the attachment system without having to tape up the window? Also do any of you have a special tip that you can place on the tip of the tube that sqeezes the chualks into the frame and safety film?
