How many times?

As I posted in another thread, I've locked keys in so many cars, that I did 2 cars for my Pop-A Lock guy. He in turn sold me a set of professional grade lock out tools, and trained me how 2 use them.

I now carry them in my car, along with a fully charged Booster pack. How many times have you come across someone locked out of thier car, or need a jump?

I now either jump them off, or open the car 4 them. When asked what they owed me, I say "Not a dime!" and give them a business card. 2 or 3 minutes of my time...$5.00 to $10.00, building a good potential customer....Priceless. I find that most people remember things like that when it comes time for tint, alarms or accessories. It has paid dividends!!! :thumb:beer:whisper

Not that often, actually, the two times in the last few years I can remember a lockout problem, the customer caused it. One time the customer tried jumping down my throat about it. I said "you shut the door before I was done working on the truck, dumbass" as you can guess it didn't go over well, but I was trying to get under his skin anyways since he was trying to blame me for a pre-existing problem and I was being nice enough to try and afro-tech it for him. So he raises a big ass stink, then remembers he has AAA. The other time luckily I left the other window cracked an inch or so and I was able to hit the lock switch. Smae thing though, customer shut the door before I was done, this was last week at like 6:30 after I spent more than an hour driving him around finding parts for his window motors. Nice guy though so I didn't mind. Dead batteries, I'm in shop, I have a charger, just throw it on the charger if I notice the battery getting low.

The whole point of this thread was NOT if you kill a battery or lock the keys in the car at your shop, but lending a hand to those you encounter in daily life that have had the misfortune to do so. In doing this, and not charging, they will remember you. Has worked as a great marketing tool for me. Even if the person you helped doesn't want tint, I bet they will recommend you to thier friend who does! :hump WOM!
