Our east facing two story North Texas brick home is situated on the crest of a hill and receives almost lazer beam like heat for about 4 or so hours a day. To combat this heat we have Gila Platinum Heat window film installed on first and second floor windows. The problem is with our second floor master bedroom window and window arch. When viewed from the ground (and street) this large window is very mirror like in appearance. While this window does not cast a blinding reflection it alway catchs peoples attention whether they are walking or driving. We have received complaints from both drivers and walkers.

We choose DIY Gila over professional products and installation due to cost. I'm retired on LTD due to Parkingson's so each dollar saved is important.

Is there anything we can do to eliminate this unattractive appearance?

All comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Gila Heat Control Platinum Film Specifications

Heat Control? Window Film

about normal. Does it say anything on installations for double pane windows?

here's some comparisons

Panorama $$$

SolarGard

Look at the 20 solar bronze, it's much lighter and more natural looking, CDAS makes it a bit easier and cleaner for a DIY job, maybe someone in your area can sell you some.

Yes, there are many other films on the market that are sold be window film dealers, some of these films are much less reflective than what you have now but it will cost you more than Gila. And to make matters worse, you would have to have the Gila stripped off before the new film can be put on which costs extra.

Your specs are reasonable.
