Wisconsin Auroras

Recommended Posts

A solar wind stream hit Earth on Nov. 23rd. The impact caused a minor (Kp=5) geomagnetic storm and auroras at high latitudes.

A week later, on Nov. 30th, the interplanetary magnetic field near Earth tilted south, opening a crack in Earth's defenses against the solar wind. Auroras were photographed as far south as Wisconsin.
