Factory Tinted Windows

Recommended Posts

SUV's which have the back windows tinted at the factory.

That is just color put into the glass ?

A rock thrown at the window will shatter it just as any other window ?

Is there an abosolutely clear film that can be purchased to put on these windows to strengthen them ?

Yes it's just embedded in the glass. It's not a film.

There are many clear options.

Things like clear UV film, 70%/50%, and of course if you want real safety then you'd need a 4 mil or up safety and security film.

Whichever brand you use most likely has many options for you.

Also, please don't tell the customer it will strengthen the windows.

All that will happen is it will hold the window together when it breaks.

This of course, will SLOW entry. It's not going to stop it.

Yeah The Glass will still break like regular tempered glass man Ive seen it a couple of times once at a dealership and once at a golf course when I was working....My friends got this black gentelmans set of clubs out of the truck (Explorer E.B. Edition 03 or 04) and closed the back door and the rear drivers side qr. win. blew out. from the air when the back door closed. And he got out and was like what the hell did you do. and blamed him for the whole thing but there was a recall for it so he shut up. But the whole pieces of glass has a black color to it or silver for met. fact. tint. its kinda cool how they do it with people still being able to see out. :gasp

12 Mil or 300 Micron is what you want.

Wow that stuff looks really cool. But how hard is it to get the 12 mil to conform to the curve even on the driver windows. For anyone out there using this or something like it.

12 mil when you have worked with it a couple of times is fine just the glass needs to be removed thats all, this is really more security than safety though so all depends on the customers needs, but as for b'glass forget it unless its pretty straightforward
