Reminds me of when Honda had window motors burning out a while back..watch it happen again and have Honda turn around and blame the tinters who put on felt to fix their mistake and saying that we've now made it so tight for the window it causes extra strain on the motors :tantrum

I have a competitor that tells ppl that all the time that ask them if the felt seal... :dunno

WOW lots to think about here.

Customers who don't want door panels pulled are COMPLETE IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no more harm in taking off a door panel than changing the oil, rotating the tires, installing a new stereo head unit, replacing a muffler, etc. etc. etc.

I mean, come on, people get these other things done all the time and think nothing of it, but Oh, my! don't take off the door panels!

fockin' bingo dude....I share a shop with a glass company. customers come in needing a window installed and don't ask a single question about their door panel....but getting it tinted?....."ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wait a minute are you removing the panels?" fock you...the glass dude asks me how to remove panels because he hasn't done door panel remove like me. but he's supposedly the 'professional' while I'm a "tinter." anyone who thinks panel removal is a big deal can suck it. :tantrum

I bet Honda starts fixing the problem when the unfelted seals start scratching the clear glass. :hmmm

:hmmm I bet they don't, I went through this with ford on the mustangs and got nowhere, they feel with their "research" that no dirt gets trapped in the "rubber" thus no scratching of glass, unlike felt witch traps dirt and causes scratching :thumb thats what I was told by a pretty hi up ford tech, who travels the westren reigon going to dealers and troubleshoots things that techs may not be able to figure out.

I guess in time if they get enough complaints about scratched glass they will have to own up to it.

But then really, customers won't even notice the scratches and never complain, unless there is tint on there.

:hmmm on that

IMO an experienced tinter who takes off panels for tinting has more experience than a mechanic who focuses on the whole car.

Tinters: aka panel specialists

Mechanic: general practitioner of the whole car

:hmmm I tell my customers all the time, they have screws and snap pegs holding them on, they are desined to come off. If removing them was a bad thing, they would permanently install them. :hmmm

TW there is no secret, you have to put felt on them. Your customer should not worry about you damaging their door panels they are so easy to remove on those Honda accords just 3 screws and the rest is a piece of cake. I also had a problem similar to yours, except that he refused to pay extra to have the felt put on, but sure enough he was back the following week to redo his 2 front windows and of coarse add the felt :thumb
