Why would you buy/use a tint Machine? (plotter/cutter)

I can say that if you know what type of cars you are doing the next day you can pre-cut all the patterns so they will be ready for you in the AM, that would save some time I guess. And if someone doesnt show up then just keep the pattern for a later time...But I am mainly FG so what do I know...

Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky, but having one just so I wouldn't have to cut around vent visors anymore would be really nice !!! :gay :lol2

And yes, I do hate vent visors that much!!! :beer

not only that cajun you would not have to cut out the weird ones either like h3's and elements :lol2

1) elimanates possibilities of damage to custys glass on car. Does your competior have one? ( ask for more $$ for your tint job)

2) addition income, vinyl lettering, signs, paint protection film

3) "for business owners" attitude adjuster for installers, No more coming in late, No more taking long lunch breaks.

4) No more training your competition, train them to clean and install only, not to mention, you don't have to pay them as much.

DownSide

1) 7 K investment

2) software fees

In my opinion, Go for it!!!

As the investment gets cheaper I think we will see more of these around.

There are ones on ebay that will work starting in the 350.. and up range now.

I know you get what you pay for, but if that ones quits working chunk it and buy another one :thumb

I read about many of you guys using electronic tint machines to cut your patterns for you. IT just seems very inaccurate and un-reliable. ***Note---I have never used one, so I cant say for sure*** But from my experience, ALL windows are different from car to car. Take one guy's 2004 Silverado, and then take the other guy's 2004 Silverado, the edge of both windows may be slightly different, but yet the machine will cut out the exact same pattern. This is the same on ALL cars. There is nothing like cutting each pattern by hand, knowing you have the exact edge of each window. OH yes, how about back windows on cars? Even if the machine cuts it out for you, you will still have to shrink the pattern. Come on, it just seems like a lazy, yet expensive way to finish up a car quickly. I would rather take 15-20 minutes more to cut the right patterns than to have non-precision cuts from a computer. Thoughts?

I haven't seen this much contradiction in one statement in a very long time. I don't know where to begin...

1) you never used a plotter, yet you still have a strong opinion about its operation.

2) how can the glass on two identical vehicles be that much different that one would need extra-precaution in trimming edges?

3) if you were doing 10 cars a day and saving 15-20 minutes per vehicle, can you calculate how much time you will be saving per week?

I need a nap after this...

Maybe for a newbie ,but an experienced cutter does not cause damage to windows :lol I can charge MORE for a "hand crafted " tint job than a "generic computer cut" by the competition .

:lol Notice the way in which that is worded to a customer . It's all about the selling and the experience of the tinter from a CUSTMER'S point of view.

As far as the business owner themselves , it's up to them if the machine would benefit their business or not depending on their individual situation :rollin

:rollin Funny... cause 'I' can sell a custom CAD CUT design that is specifically patterned to ensure the BEST fit and finish possible every time without touching the vehicle over a 'random guy' with a blade on the side of the customers car every time also.... :lol

Isn't the sales game great! :lol

Precisely my point! :lol

I had competition that used to say that as well and one day they must have did a spy call on me to se how I handled that because I just say "If I butchered cars , it would be hard for me to be in business all these yrs in a small city , If you want to check out some of my random work, feel free do drive down to certain new car dealers where you can inspect the final product on new cars that havn't been sold yet and check for damage and check out the quality of the tint job while your at it"

I don't think they use that line anymore...I think now around my area, no one slams competition anymore because its pointless..theres always a counteraction to it :lol
