Questions about a tint job

I have had several cars in the past that have had the windows tinted. All tinting was applied before I purchased the vehicle though. Sooo.... Yesterday I took my brand new 2008 Honda Accord to have the windows tinted and I had a bad feeling from the start. My partner refered me to this small family owned shop and I dropped the car off returning about 4 hours later to see my car looking pretty good from the outside at a distance. Now once I got closer to the car complete flip... Hand prints left everywhere... (easy fix)... But then once I got inside the car, I wanted to flip out! Looking out through the windows there streaks covering each window on all 4 door and the back windows. Then when I looked down at the door panels there was some sort of drips of a dried chemical covering all 4 doors.

Normal reaction would be to go back into the business and have them correct the problem. Several reasons I did not want to go this route... One of the owners (the wife) came into the waiting room screaming the F-boom over and over several times... Plus, n this really burns me up, a close friend of mine put money of the back floor boards of the car as soon as I purchased the car for good luck... That money is now gone... Yes, totally my fault for leaving the money there but since I was refered there and my partner does business with the owners almost on a daily basis I figured that I wouldnt have to worry.

So..... I did go back inside the shop and ask for the money back that was laying on the floor board, but the white-trash part-time help denied seeing anything. There was no way I was going to let these people get their hands back on my car. NO WAY!!! Cant trust them!!!

The reason for me telling you all of this is to hopefully get some help on what I can do to remove the dried dripped that are covering my leather door panels... I am at a loss as to what I should do.... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thank you for your advise in advance and thanks for listening!

I split this post off of a TOTW thread and moved it to the general.

The streaks you describe are a normal part of the dying process, they should have told you it would look that way if they didn't. Don't worry, it will dry in time. Be sure to leave your roll downs up for a few days.

They probably didn't wipe down your paint for fear of scratching it. :spit

The streaks on the door panels is just soapy water, A quick hit of armor all or something similar will get rid of them.

As far as the missing money and the "white trash" comment, well. :spit

Bad deal, sorry to hear of your bad experiance, make a bad name for the entire industry.

As far as the streaks on the glass, wait a couple of days for the film to set up on the glass, and then take an ammonia free window cleaner, and a soft cloth, and clean them.

As for the drips down the door panels, you can take some Meguires leather wipes, and wipe down the door panels, it will remove the streaks.

:spit Hope that helps. :spit

streaks are nothing. let the film cure.

drips on the door panel are from the application solution. (baby shampoo or soap and water) nothing to worry about. an interior cleaner will take of that.

I don't touch the outside of cars if I get prints or water streaks on them. clean your own car. I'm not wiping off your paint. :spit

can't help with the missing money.

so basically the only issue you have is the money. go clean your door panels and let the film cure. no big deal.

I had a customer accuse me loudkly of stealing a check

raising all kind of hurll on the sales floor

she knew no-one else could have done it

welll....someone in her family did it

I confronted her about it the next day on the phone

and she admitted it was her white trash childrens boyfriend or whatever

the drips and handprints are normal

wash the car jeez :spit

carefull accusing folks of stealing

was this a lot of $$

or did someone gank your change? :spit

I have found lots of cash and stash in vehicles

and wont even take quarters I find under the seat

but if an|\|4L customer accuses me of stealing

I will gladly take more than his money

Why do customers leave money and stash in their car when they have any work done? I found over 6 grand in rear floorboard one time and it made me nervous. I hate it when a customer comes in and said we broke their 100 buck sunglasses but they don’t have a receipt that usually will get them a new pair from the manufacture on high end ones. Sorry about your bad experience though. Most times you get great work and service from small mom and pop shops if they have been their awhile. Usually getting demanding gets you nowhere though especially at a small shop cause THEY are upper management. White trash?

Yes it goes on the inside and no you cant watch! :spit

sorry to hear, but yeah wait a couple of days and fully clean your car in and out. as far as the tint, it will most likely dry out, if it doesnt in a week, go back. as far as the money...that just plain sucks. the only time we take money is if we pull the seats out and there is like a single quarter back there. when I put the seat back in I like to have it totally clean under there. if the change in there is like a handful I leave it in the cup holder. I know pocketing a quarter shouldnt be done, but ive done it in the past. it doesnt happen that much anymore though cuz we dont pull seats on these newer cars. one time a worker of ours ate a starburst under a seat cushion. he said "its still in the wrapper"

Give them the benefit of the doubt.. sometimes the small shops are the most trustworthy. As far as the money, it's foolish to leave valuables in a car that is being repaired or worked on. Maybe the person in charge will reimburse you the money if one of the lousy employees took it? I would; then I would beat the crap out of the employee... :spit
