Not Saying anything is wrong with college...I make more then everyone I know that went to college...Just a thought. I love tinting...makes me feel good to see the look on the customers face when they know you did a good job. Very rewarding eork for me.

IMO College and University are simply tools and only enhance a person's abilities. They have absolutely nothing to do with a person's willingness to work and motivation to reach out for more. They can just enhance that. As a side note... the richest people I know, the guy only finished high school when he started on the path that led him to where he is... And the best off people in my family never even finished high school, the youngest and highest earner of them being 36. It's all relative :evileye I've just seen good friends of mine go thousands and thousands in debt because they felt they had to go to university/college and either now don't work in the field they forced themselves to pick, or make less than they thought they would because they didn't research it ahead of time enough. Post secondary education, however, is GREAT if used properly and can really improve your earning potential and abilties. I just wish in high school they'd explain in greater detail what to pick and the reasoning to use behind it, as opposed to, at least I found, making it out like you will be nothing in life unless you go... I have so many friends who will have a huge cloud of debt over their head for way too long because of not asking the right questions first.

And to stay on topic with the thread... I tint because I actually enjoy it most of the time (except when I'm so frustrated by myself I want to kill something :twocents ) I also think it would be hard to find anything this stress free to do that allows you to make the potential money you can with this. Scheduling can be flexible too :rollin

When I started, I worked for Auto Trim Design, and I was just interested in doing something different than what I was doing... Undercoating and Rustproofing. Window tinting for years had a mistique about it that made it seem interesting and exciting and I wanted to find out what it is all about.

After being at it for over 12 years, I like the money I make doing the work and there's still satisfaction in making cars look so good. Plus, I take pride in doing the best quality work around. :beer

( I have added other services to my business, though, and right now, I'm into making people's homes look much nicer by pressure washing them. Deck re-finishing is my latest passion.)

I like it because its not the same thing day in and day out. I don't have to sit at a desk for 8 hours and punch a clock. its nice to see the finish product. and its not something just any body can do. you can only train someone so much but that doesn't always mean they are going to be any good at it. not everybody can do this, even if they are trained. can't teach patients

I tint because it pays better than my wife's job as a Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine specialist - and I didn't need the 10 years of education she's up to now.

I tint because I didnt wanna pay the tint man to tint my vehicle when I was 17 and it was the best decision of my life I believe... im still tintin because I cant see myself goin to school to be an architect for a million years to make less than what I could make at 20 also being a business owner gives you so much freedom and a sense of accomplishment and superiority I like knowing that I run the show and I work for myself... as for college im still in it and still run my business full time me and my business partner are both 20 both in college but we have our schedules set up to where im off the the days he has school and hes off the days I have school... im not even sure if im gonna go back next semester but im goin for business administration so I can hopefullly get a good job one day..... maybe.... maybe running a tintshop.... for myself! :beer

Wow!!!! That has to be a passion.... I did it as a business for one summer, I made enough to pay off the equipment loan and pocket a few bucks..

But dang, that is hard dirty, wet work.... Good luck in that venue..... :beer

Good money but thats not why I started. It something you can do on your own. Also, its a challenge and with tinting you can do a decent job while someone else can do a kick ass job in less time. I wouldn't tint if any average person could pick it up quick and be good at it. I like cars and like enhancing the look of a car with window film.

......I didn't finish college.

But I'm working towards remedying that problem as we speak.

hahaha, yeah, try tinting and going full time. it blooooowwwwsssss. I'm sure fiveofeen can vouch for me on this one too.

Tuition-$3300/semester

Books - $590/semester - and I didnt buy one of them

Gas - $70-$80/week

and when all is said and done I won't have a job, a nice car, or really anything to show for it... except a piece of paper that says "Electrical Engineer and a minor in economics," but I will have a tinting business. hahaha
