Automotive grade masking tape for me.if that won't stick, then cheap duck tape. The good stuff sticks to well.

I've been becoming very partial to 3m blue tape or Scotch/ 3M/Sherwin Williams tan if I need more stick. I keep plenty of both ready to go for felt vehicles. Avoid generic painters tape.

But I thought 08 Focus generation was all rubber, I never tape rubber. Does it actually help?

My trick I've picked up on over the last year is removing the panel and sliding the whole piece of film in at once. It has really helped me to perfect the more difficult roll-ups. Half and half on these will very likely kink, tape or not.
