no charge for estimate but always 50% up front remaining due upon completion. We do alot of casinos and really high end multi million dollar homes and when we don't state in the contract "due upon completion"we end up waiting for weeks and sometimes months for the accounts payable dep't to get our checks cut.Lesson learned the hard way.....never had a cancellation this way either..... :dunno

WHy on earth would you guys not take a deposit? I usually take no less than the cost of the film as a down payment. If they are serious about getting the film install, they should have no problem paying the deposit. I always give them a signed receipt as well. I always tell them, if you want me to put you on the schedule, you have to make a non refund deposit. Havent had anyone tell me no yet.

I agree...although I haven't been doing it lately. No matter how good the client may seem, it really interupts our schedule for them to assume they can cancel and it doens't adversely affect us. Every estimate from now one we will require a deposit for us to take our time and put them on OUR schedule. It just makes sense. We have been silly not to already have this incorporated into our policy. We are now doing this with ppf installs as well. I have to schedule out so much time for ppf, and then if they flake out it costs us, then we are scrambling to get tint installs in the same day to recover lost revenue.

Great advice CE! :dunno

ALWAYS take a deposit. You are seriously crazy if someone has a check out waiting to write it and you turn it away. You gotta strike while the iron is hot, purchases can be impulsive and you dont wanna miss the boat!
